Nice place, nice owner

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice place to stay. Close to water level compared to some other options. The owner was very helpful and concerned that we enjoy the stay. We usually stay at a fishing camp, but with the ladies joining us this year we needed a bigger place. This fit the bill perfectly.

Very nice waterfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

HAUGHHAVEN is a lovely place to be, charming and convenient.

We came from New Zealand to escape our winter for about 10 weeks.

The setting on the peninsula is beautiful. The house feels like a home rather than a rental or cottage. Everything is of very good quality, clean and comfortable. There is enough room to accommodate 8 people with ease. The kitchen is in good working order with all the appliances you would need even for a long stay. The heating and cooling system is working fine and we have had no problems which could not be solved from our owners Bobbi & Trevor in a very short timeframe and with a very friendly approach. The deck and the boat dock are great to have and even parking your car was only meters from the entrance door. You have direct access to the Winnipeg River System which is over 200 km long and comes with hundreds of small Islands. The water is clear and with 23 Degree Celsius you can have a swim as well. Fishing was great and we caught Musky, Walleye, Pike and Bass every time even in front of the house at the peninsula. The neighbours were friendly and supportive and shopping is only about 15 minutes away in Kenora.

All together a perfect place to relax and to unwind. The only inconvenience was, that, depending on wind direction there was some traffic noise from the nearby Highway 17A. But nevertheless it was not major and all the animals around did not care and we have had deer, chipmunks, squirrels, pelicans, blue herons, eagles, geese, ducks, loons, turtles and more direct in front of our rental.

Thanks Bobbi and Trevor

Great relaxing retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place was really relaxing, enjoyable and stress free. Bobbi the owner was so accommodating and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The house is situated right on a bay and the water was warm and calm. Waking up here each day was a little piece paradise. It is situated so close to Kenora so to run in and pick up groceries was easy. We often do road trips and vacation rentals and this one is really a gem.

Amazing Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing in the Lake of The Woods area for many years and stumbled upon this lovely property on HomeAway. The pictures were great but the stay and beauty of the property exceeded every expectation!

The home was much larger than we anticipated and was very spacious for everyone (4 adults and 2 children) with room to spare! The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed. The home was very clean and it's very apparent the owners take pride in making it a great experience for guests. The beds were comfy and it was nice to have AC on the warm days.

Some of our favorite things about the home was sitting on the porch and watching the bald eagles nearby, swimming near the dock, watching the kids catch some small Pike right off of the shoreline, and the close proximity it was to Kenora made it super convenient for grocery trips. Eating at Lake of The Woods Brew Company in Kenora was also one of our favorites :). Several bald eagles landed just outside the dining room windows on the peninsula in the evenings and it was amazing to watch.

The owners were great to deal with and very prompt in their response. We brought our own boat and kept it secured at the dock during our stay. The Winnipeg River system goes on for miles and miles but some of our biggest fist were caught within a mile from the house (several Pike over 32 inches!).

This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable trips I have experienced in all my years traveling from Texas to the Kenora/LOTW area. We would gladly return to this property and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation in the area.

Beautiful cottage and ideal location!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had one of our most enjoyable vacations here! We were made to feel right at home in this beautiful cottage that is water front on the Winnipeg river! The river system is amazing!!!! Great fishing and we got to see multiple bald eagles and even a couple turtles!

The cottage is very spacious and upgraded with a beautiful kitchen, 4 bedrooms and plenty of space to just relax! Very clean and well maintained!

Just minutes from downtown Kenora, with plenty of parks and local shops, and the Kenora golf course is absolutely beautiful!!!

We can't say enough about the owners, they made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel right at home!!! This was our first stay at their cottage but certainly will not be our last!
