The Crows Nest was awesome - views from the wrap around deck are amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Our weekend at the Crows Nest was the most relaxing ever, the large living room had views of the lake that were breathtaking! We wish we'd never left - can't wait to go back!

Peaceful yet central

  • 5 of 5

This comfortable house sits on a rise above the south-west shore of the lake. A long deck and many large windows give views of the mountains, Meeks Bay and substantial parts of the lake--a couple of neighboring houses block lake views directly to the east, but this didn't diminish the visual appeal.

Given the isolated feeling you get at the house, you might be surprised that D. L. Bliss and Sugar Pine Point state parks are only about 5 minutes' drives away; many trail heads for longer hikes in to the desolation wilderness are a few minutes farther. For those who want the finest hiking and kayaking at the lake and quiet accommodation, this place would be hard beat.

For evenings in, the house has a pretty good kitchen and offers excellent star watching--we saw the Perseids, the Milky Way and satellites with the naked eye.

A few minor issues: one bed needs a new mattress, and the bathrooms have vintage fixtures that may require some getting used to. Also, more than 6 people might stretch the capacity of the two bathrooms in the main rental--consider renting the additional ground-level unit in this case.

Owner's Response: Thank you for being perfect guests and leaving the house nice and tidy. Your review is very helpful to me and other guests. I have not stayed in all of the rooms for quite some time now. I am assuming you are talking about the double bed? I replaced the four twin beds last year and will definitely look into replacing that one. Nothing is worse than an uncomfortable nights sleep. Thanks Again! Sheila

Gorgeous Views, lovely home

  • 5 of 5

What a find! We went on the photos alone for this place and frankly, they don't do it justice. From virtually ALL rooms, and the wrap around deck are gorgeous lake views and a big, beautiful sky and trees. The location is quiet and attractive. The house has everything you need, including a nice big table for the whole family to sit around and a big, comfortable living room with a view. We used the deck for BBQ and quiet contemplation of the views. All the beds are comfortable and the place is very, very clean. The owner was the most responsive owner I have encountered for my tiny and easily resolved issues. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. My whole family was absolutely delighted.

Lovely home, Amazing views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week over the 4th of July. The house is lovely and I really cannot overstate the views. We saw three sets of fireworks from the deck: Incline, Tahoe City, and South Shore. It is very convenient to Meeks Bay beach, which is the nicest beach in the area. No rocks! I know some reviewers stated that it is not walkable but it really is. There is a short cut through the neighborhood that lets you avoid walking on the busy street and drops you right at Meeks Bay. The master bedroom is huge with beautiful views. You can lie in bed and look out at the bay and the lake beyond. It is the same view on the main deck. We also rented the apartment below and this gave the kids a place to congregate. Sheila was very easy and responsive and also allowed us to bring our two dogs. We will rent again.

Collage Girlfriend Reunion

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable, clean house with an amazing deck and views! It was perfect for us, nine girlfriends reunited from our 80's collage days! Comfortable beds and great living areas. Large dining table to accommodate us all, and ample parking. Close to the beach (but take a car) that last hill is a steep walk back up. Sheila (the owner) was very accommodating to take our reservation early so we could plan for out of state friends to join us. We would love to come back and stay here again.

Lake Tahoe Meeks Bay Summer Vacation at the Crows Nest!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to escape the Texas heat before the school year started and set our sights on Lake Tahoe. The Crows nest accommodated our family of 5 adults and 4 friends perfectly for our 4 night get away. The panoramic views Meeks Bay and surrounding mountains from the living area and master bedroom are phenomenal. The house is well equipped to accommodate . We chose to rent the additional room they have in the basement of the house to better accommodate our adults. Kitchen is spacious and well equipped. We are already planning a return visit next summer to the Crows Nest .

Paved bike paths are just minutes away, and some of the best hiking in the area can be found within 2 miles of the house- with many other trails to explore.
