About this property

Private Gorge Getaway - White Salmon / Hood River

Private driveway and entrance leads to your Gorge Getaway vacation spot. View of surrounding mountains with western gorge in the distance. All the amenities of home, but better location. Kite, bike, paddle, hike, eat, drink - we have it good here.

Bright, airy and huge daylight basement apartment (1050 square feet!) - this space is part of our larger family home. Central air with radiant floor heat. Private patio with BBQ, sitting area and access to large yard. TV, HBO blah blah go outside, thats why you’re here ;)

Space has 2 beds - one is a queen sized bed in the bedroom and the other is a sofa pullout (super comfy) in the full in the living room.

As a guest, you will have private access to the space and have access to everything except for a storage closet and the utility room on this floor. Guests also have access to private deck (we may be passing through side yard to pick tomatoes from the garden and we may even give you some if you're around).

We live upstairs and should be available for the most part during your visit. We like our privacy and will respect yours as well. If you would like input on local information or need directions or just a good old fashioned chat, don't hesitate to let us know.

We love that you'll be vacationing in part of our home. Please realize that we probably won't be on vacation the same time as you are (maybe next time though!) - so we need to have quiet time start at 10pm, and please no super loud happenings before 7am.

Also, smoking is bad for you. You really, just shouldn't. Your mom did not make me say this - but I bet she would agree. If you feel you must - the yard is the best place. Please not the patio as it will waft up into our space. Anywhere on the grass is fine. Please don't leave your butts behind.

Due to our mole killing cats, we can't have other pets on the property. They are friendly, too friendly…dont let them inside please. Other guests may have cat allergies.

We live in a super quiet neighborhood within a mile of downtown White Salmon that allows you to refresh and recharge yourself after a busy day on the water or on the trails. We face south-west and therefore have brighter days than our poor neighbors in Hood River. (We know they are jealous.)

Just feet from the property is our local Loop Trail that is great for a bike ride and for running. We have blackberry patches in the neighborhood that are super handy (and yummy) in the summer time.

Just down the road (walking distance if you like a good stretch of the legs) we have Henni's, Everybody's Brewing, FEAST deli and Liona Pizzeria. There are several places to get coffee. Lots of places to try local wines and beer, our favorite tasting room and the closest is CLYSM in the new hotel Iconica. We have a markets - Harvest Market (decent size and good variety that you'd find in all of your larger city chain markets)

Please note too that we have placed some things in the space that are local and thought you would enjoy.
On the counter, we have coffee from our friends at STOKED Roasters (located in Hood River). Really good stuff. Let us know if you want to get some to take home with you, and we can arrange to have a bag delivered.
On the walls (some not all), You’ll see artwork from our friend, Barbara Murphy. All of her work is for sale, and she has quite a bit in several spots around the gorge. She is also open to commissioned painting if there is a certain scene or vista that you would like to take back home with you.
Those great potted mugs for your coffee? Those are from our friends at Klickitat Pottery. We’d prefer for you not to take these mugs, but if you are looking for a couple to take home with you, we can help make that happen.

Great stay for Columbia Gorge
This was a lovely, comfortable stay. It was nice being out of Hood River and got us to do a few different things including following the White Salmon and going along the Washington side of the gorge. We also enjoyed hiking Mosier plateau. The host was very helpful and made sure we were very comfortable. I highly recommend this stay!

Vacationing from Missoula Montana
This place was what we needed for our six day vacation. It is close to everything and very quiet. We seen over 20 waterfalls and it was nice to go hick all day and have a place to relax when done. Host was amazing and made us fell at home. We would recommend this place to stay to everyone passing this way. And we recommend to stop for a long vacation and see some of God’s amazing beautiful creations. Look forward to coming back soon.

Great location for visiting the Gorge
Very nice accommodations close to Hood River and Gorge. White Salmon had nice restaurants & grocery store nearby. Enjoyed seeing deer and quail in the yard most early mornings. Comfortable space albeit a bit lived in. We could hear the owner's family upstairs but. it was always quiet by a reasonable time.

Magnificent stay
Get to live in the woods, yet right in middle of everything. Short walk to the village and all it's restaurants, and easy access to all main roads to sightsee. Everything is provided in unit and extremely clean. Breff is totally helpful in all respects. Recommend to all

We have made the Columbia River Gorge our home since 1993. We love to travel, but also love coming back to this incredibly beautiful spot that we are lucky enough to call home.

Why they chose this property

We designed and built this house ourselves. The space that we are sharing with people like you was designed lovingly for extended family stays. We even lived in the space while we were finishing to build the rest of the house. We love the views, the light and the quiet of the property.
