About this property

Barnegat Light, ocean block, classic 3/1, uncrowded beach, decks front and back

Looking for a getaway in a quaint and quiet beach town? Then head north on Long Beach Island to beautiful Barnegat Light! Widest beaches on Long Beach Island. Low population density.

The house is a comfortable classic 3 bedroom 1 bath well equipped. In the ocean block on a street with a very nice beach. It is all that is needed for a great vacation. Nice house. Nice street. Nice beach. Nice town. Nice island.

To save us both time - full weeks, June to October only, no pets, no smoking, Sunday to Sunday until Labor Day, then Tuesday to Tuesday. Please don't ask for exceptions.

The house is simple, yet well equipped and comfortable and located centrally in Barnegat Light. Large HD TV with COMCAST cable and high speed WiFi. Walk up the street to our quiet, guarded beach. We provide beach umbrella, four beach badges, four beach chairs, two belly boards and two bikes.

Across the main street is a deli and two blocks North a grocery store. Walk down the street to the bay - here you will find Viking Village which provides boutique shopping, a coffee shop, fish market, produce market, and a take-out or dine al fresco restaurant. It’s also fun to watch the commercial fishing boats bring in their latest catch or you can go fishing or take a Sunset Cruise on Miss Barnegat Light or a sailing adventure on the Barnegat Witch.

Use the bikes provided to explore all Barnegat Light has to offer: seven restaurants (Mustache Bills was featured on Diners and Drive Ins, Kubel’s was featured on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown), nature trails, ice cream parlors, boat rentals and other retail stores, bay beach (here you can launch kayaks, small boats or stand up paddle boards), mini golf (best on the island), tennis courts, pickle ball courts, playgrounds and more. You can bike or walk to just about everything in town. And don’t forget to visit the State park and climb the highlight of our town, “Old Barney.” The views of the ocean, bay and island from the top of the Barnegat Lighthouse are amazing. There are very nice nature trails in the lighthouse park and at the ocean front at 12th and 13th Sts. A nice museum is on 5th St. and a small one in Viking Village. There are two churches.

After a fun-filled day, retire back to your quiet home. Take a shower in the enclosed outside shower to rinse off all the sand. The unit is one story up and provides three bedrooms (bring your own linens - sheets, pillow cases, blankets, towels, washcloths etc.), a full bath (toilet, sink and tub/shower), well equipped kitchen and open concept living with a combined living/dining area. The dinning table sits 8. Use the deck furniture on the front and back decks to enjoy the outdoors while unwinding. Dine on the back deck which has a table for 6.

We rent from Sunday to Sunday during the Summer - that means you get to avoid heavy Saturday turnover traffic. In the fall after Labor Day we switch to Tuesday to Tuesday - so you can rent a week at a very low off-season rate even if the intended use is just a long weekend.

The weekly rates vary significantly between in-season and off-season. For 2024 the range is $575 to $2,295.

Please use the VRBO Contact Host feature to ask questions or if you seek deviations from the terms listed. Please do not use the reservation feature for such inquiries.

Full refund of payments (net of credit card charges and Vrbo charges (which will be up to them)) if government regulations prohibit renting during the rental period related to the corona virus. If you have to cancel, we will try to rent it to someone else and will refund your payments to us, to the extent we recover the amount from the replacement rental.

More details and the exact amenities included are listed below. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. VRBO requires that be thru them, otherwise we would gladly share our contact information here. Again, use their Contact Host inquiry feature.

Love this place
A perfect week at the shore in a great location. All of the essentials were provided. Hearing church bells from across the street was a nice touch.

Great place for family beach vacation
Rental could not have been easier. If you wanted to you could get away with 2 sets of clothes for each person and nothing else (I wouldn't recommend that). Bring your toiletries and food/pantry stuff and enjoy.

Cozy and inviting house in perfect location
Check in was a breeze. The house was clean and tidy with everything we needed. The outdoor shower and back deck were a wonderful bonus. The unit is a block from a beautiful beach, Viking Village and a short drive to the lighthouse in lovely Barnegat Light. Ken was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We had a perfect week at the beach! Thank you!

About the host

Host profile image
Ken & Pat Emens Retired and live a few blocks away from this house. So, are generally around to address any problems.

Why they chose this property

My grandfather had the house built in 1960. It was the family beach house.

My brother and I bought it in 1970. I was up, he was down.

It was my family's Summer beach house from 1970 to 2003. It was a wonderful place for our three kids to spend the Summer while growing up. It has been updated over the years - kitchen, floors, walls, decks, appliances, A/C, electronics, furniture etc. While retaining a 1960's charm.

We love Barnegat Light, so built a place nearby in High Bar Harbor in 2003 for our retirement and sold our house in Pennsylvania that had been needed for our working years. Kept our half of this place as a rental.

My brother (also retired) and his wife still use the downstairs. They are usually only there a few days per week.

What makes this property unique

Has all that's needed for a good seashore vacation at a reasonable price.
