Property type house

About the property

Luxury Vacation Home - Private 4.5 Acre, 750 ft Beachfront Estate

Watch the powerful Bay of Fundy tides rise and fall at the lawn's edge from this luxury beachfront vacation home. Three beautifully appointed bedrooms, kitchen, dining and living rooms with full ocean views. Two full baths, one with jet tub, wood burning fireplaces in living room and master bedroom, dishwasher, washer, dryer, fully equipped kitchen, covered deck and gas BBQ. Full communication services with high-speed internet, phone and satellite TV.

The toughest decision will be whether to explore the world-class Fundy Trail Parkway or stay at home and launch kayaks from the lawn's edge, beach comb and walk on the ocean floor. You will be lured outside with the peaceful grace of these surroundings, not just because of the recreational possibilities but because you will crave the smell and sight and sounds of it.

Steeped in history, this property looked very different in the 19th century. The 1800's saw slipways and wooden vessels built on this property as this was the location of the Capt. John Marr and T.H. Bradshaw age-of-sail shipyards. There's still lots for the amateur archaeologist to discover, from the blunted stumps of the slipway pilings where sailing vessels were launched to spikes and rusty tools buried in the soil.

Send us a query and we'll answer whatever questions you may have. Wishing you a pleasant and refreshing vacation!

Shipyard Cottage is an exceptional summer retreat. We also make available a fantastic Caribbean winter vacation home in the Turks & Caicos Islands Please see our VRBO listing # 1161272 for Far Away Villa.

About Valerie Mawhinney

Greetings from Valerie & Matthew Mawhinney! As former innkeepers, we have an innkeeper's attention to comfort and hospitality. We have endeavored to appoint Shipyard cottage with all of the amenities you expect in a luxury cottage.

Valerie Mawhinney purchased this house in 2001

Why Valerie Mawhinney chose West Quaco

We built the cottage in 2001 as a second home and convenient base for Matthew's spring lobster fishing season in St. Martins. We recently added lovely new furniture including the dining set, leather sofa and chairs and new bunk beds with premium mattresses.

What makes this house unique

The cupboards are stocked with beautiful handmade pottery by local artisans at Happy Fish Pottery. The beds are appointed with Valerie's handmade quilts.

Amazing home on the Bay of Funday

  • 5 of 5

This was a highlight of our 5 week Eastern Canada tour! The house was lovely, well appointed and spotless! Fresh cut flowers and homemade cookies were there on our arrival!

We were met by our host on our arrival and given a great intro to the house and the near by communities!

We had access to kayaks which we used on the channels of the tidal bore which was right outside our door!

I would highly recommend this location and home! We would really love too return!

Thank you so much Valerie and Matthew! Appreciated your home crafted quilts and art! You are very talented! As is your artist son!

All activities within easy reach if not at your doorstep.

  • 5 of 5

Rock hunting, kayaking, kite flying, sea caves, Fundy Trail, gift shops and more were close by and the location is near enough to reach Hopewell Rocks and visit the water park in Moncton for a day. We had the most relaxing week and the house is beautifully constructed. If we decide to go to the Bay of Fundy again, we are definitely booking this place.

Excellent, comfortable, interesting locale

  • 5 of 5

It would be hard to improve on all the excellent reviews I read before booking this beautifully crafted cottage. We became fascinated with the shipbuilding history of the area, the many scenic wonders, and everchanging tides and landscape right outside the front door. We all loved the collection of pottery mugs, books, quilts, and artwork.

Quiet retreat for R&R

  • 5 of 5

Upon our arrival, Valerie gave us a tour and pointers to make us feel comfortable. There were fresh flowers on the dining room table a well as fresh baked cookies to welcome us.

The house is clean, well maintained and stocked with appropriate linens and kitchen necessities. The location is quiet with view of the Bay from deck. Beds were comfortable and ample bedroom space to relax.

We enjoyed using the kayaks which were provided for our use. Also, we enjoyed the Bay of Fundy Trail just minutes away, which includes some awesome views. Restaurants nearby for those who want to eat out.

Overall, we enjoyed our three day stay and hope to come back for a week in the future.
