Overview

About the property

5 bedrooms, pool, cabana, large summer kitchen, air conditioned.

Welcome to the “Retro-Villa”, an air conditioned little piece of paradise in Summerland, British Columbia, Canada; the Okanagan's best kept secret. This quaint little town is a slow paced environment and lends itself to its namesake with an abundance of sunshine. The diversity of this area is virtually limitless. You can experience award winning wineries, golden sand beaches, and local fruit stands within walking distance of our Retro-Villa. Located in the Trout Creek area of Summerland, it is a great place to start a biking or hiking adventure. You can relax at the large, 37 foot in ground pool (not heated so not so warm in spring and fall) or at one of the nearby Okanagan Lake beaches. The pool also has a cabana with washroom, shower and a sauna. With abundant spectacular views, the Okanagan wine country has been ranked a premier destination for sampling foods, wines and outdoor activities. Sailing, swimming and other boating activities are very popular. Sip a coffee or other refreshment at our private poolside, bring home a taste of a local pastry or artisan bread specialty and enjoy it in the expansive summer kitchen. Watch the antics of resident quails in the large back yard amongst the inviting nut and fruit shade trees. Help yourself to the tasty apricots while in season and check for fresh surprises in the back yard vegetable garden. Come try out the new luxury mattresses that we have included in our recent renovations. The choice is yours; you can whip up your favorite meal on the barbecue, prepare your fixin’s in our fully equipped kitchen or partake in the delightfully spacious and equipped summer kitchen attached to the Villa. Other dinning choices include some award winning winery restaurants as well as romantic get-aways in Penticton, Peachland, Kelowna or Naramata. Spacious is an understatement, we recently held a family celebration here with over 100 guests and there was ample room for everyone in the outdoor areas as well as the summer kitchen. It’s simply a great space for a family get together. In the 2800 sq. ft. 5 bedroom villa we have 4 large bedrooms each with a queen bed and a smaller bedroom with a queen. There is plenty of room in the lower family room as well if the kids (old and young) would like to play some board or video games. Summerland is a half day drive from Vancouver or a short one hour or less flight from Vancouver, Edmonton or Calgary. We also boast of our Bottleneck Drive which will take you to visit 13 award winning boutique wineries along this attractive drive through picturesque orchards and vineyards. The Villa has been a labour of love to update yet we have left some interesting items from a bygone era for your enjoyment and nostalgic pleasure. This is a stand alone property and offers you the privacy you deserve between your daily adventures.

Why Michael chose Summerland

Our families have been living in the Okanagan Valley for more than a century. As one of the first settlers here there have been many stories pasted down over the decades. This particular property was purchased for many reasons. It's location within this jewel of the Okanagan and proximity to so many attractions is one of them. The history of the home itself begs to make the mind wonder as it was originally built in the early sixties. Being well built to begin with and being well maintained has contributed to it's current sound structural state. To renovate and upgrade made for some very difficult decisions. The current owners did not want to let go of all of the nostalgia of the building yet wanted to make it as comfortable as possible. You will find a unique blend of old and new here with comfort and convenience being the priority.

What makes this house unique

This property has ease of access from the main highway combined with the privacy of a slightly rural setting. With mountain views from almost all angles, golden sandy beaches within a short walk, fresh fruit stands on the way to and from the beach, the inground pool and of course the wonderful summer kitchen, you may not want to venture very far from this Okanagan oasis. However, for the more adventurous, there is such an abundance of unique adventures to experience within a few short drives.

Summerland Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! Was not long enough! The house was awesome, with the 5 large bedrooms, 3 baths and summer kitchen! The summer kitchen was amazing, which we used all the time. Having the pool was an added bonus with 2 toddlers. No worries of packing up and heading to the beach. The toddlers played in the pool for a bit before nap times and the adults were able to have some quiet time. Lynette was also amazing, very friendly. We would highly recommend to stay here.

Owner's Response: Jeanette and her party were wonderful guests. Great communicators, respectful of the home and neighbors. They left the home as they found it. Would highly recommend them as guests and would love to have them again. I'm so glad they enjoyed the home and amenities and the wonderful local wineries! Thank you, Jeanette!

Perfect for family reunions

  • 4 of 5

The hosts were wonderful. The pool was lovely and safe. Would have liked it warmer for the little kids but by going at the end of Summer the temperature really drops off each night which really cooled it down. Lots of play pool toys etc. The Sauna was wonderful and we made full use of it. The huge sandbox was a triple bonus for five kids under 8. The four tables with chairs and large inside play areas were perfect for whole group even when it rained. The kitchens were not missing anything. Amazing! Super clean and super comfortable beds. The bonus fresh organic garden was double bonus. I'd recommend to anyone. It exceeded more than our expectations.

Owner's Response: We very much enjoyed having Val and her family stay. It was especially cool when we discovered Vals husband lived in the same area of the same city in Holland many years ago as my wife. Small world! Although we try to leave folks to their privacy and enjoyment, it is irresistible to not stop and have a chat with down to earth folks like you. Cheers and hope you have a great year ahead.

Incredible summer kitchen 4 big tables

  • 5 of 5

We did not know what to expect, when we walked into the summer kitchen the rest of the house became secondary, we lived in the summer kitchen and the pool. We had 10 adults and 5 children 5 to 9 years, lots of room for all to sleep in the air conditioned house. Cabana bathroom made it easy for all as we did not have to tramp through the hous to go to the bathroom. Newly renoed lower bathroom is fantastic. We have already booked and left a deposit for next year. Lots to do in the area we only did a few of the things you can do in the area. Kettle Valley Railway is a must. 137 winerys in the area. Most days it was breakfast, pool, lunch, pool, supper, pool repeat tomorrow. Wonderful hosts Mike and Lynette were amazing. They were very accommodating every time we called or texted. Lots of parking we had 5 SUV' s and still lots of room. I could go on and on but will stop here. We left them a gift of a Keurig coffee maker for all to enjoy. Thanks The Barons

Amazing place, very clean & comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We were so stunned with the place and the owners were extremely nice! We go to Penticton every summer but we've always stayed in hotels, so it was our first time to rent a Vacation house, and we were very pleased!! After this experience, we will never stay in a hotel in Penticton ever again! And we'll make sure that we would stay at this same place when we go back next year! The place was clean, very cozy, comfortable, and it has everything that you need! Will definitely recommend it to my friends!!! 😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
