About this property

Eagle House in Blaine/Birch Bay, Wa

Wide open spaces indoors and out! Enjoy a spacious home on 5 beautiful acres; water views, sunsets, totally surrounded by nature! Experience the calming effect of walking our labyrinth.

Quiet, yet close to adventure. A natural bird sanctuary, tucked into the wetlands on the shores of Drayton Harbor, looking across to White Rock, Canada, and the mountains of Vancouver BC.

We offer a safe retreat for people who live as if immune compromised, still maintaining healthy caution for their necessary ventures into public spaces. I’ve had pneumonia 3 times and must continue to be very cautious for my own safety. If you continue to be careful, we would love to share our restorative retreat space with you.

We are in 'the middle of nowhere' yet surprisingly close to I-5, many beaches and all kinds of shopping and dining. (Great takeout and delivery options too.)

Eagle House is ideal for 4, very comfortable for 6, 7, or 8.
Our expansive Great Room inspires freedom of thought, movement and creativity.

WiFi instructions are in the White Notebook on the information table by the front door. The Wi-Fi works for email and internet, but the strength varies, is not always strong enough for streaming videos. It may be slow to connect at first, so please be patient.

Our flat screen T.V. receives local stations from Bellingham, USA and B.C., Canada. We are not able to access cable T.V. Many guests note how much they enjoy the oldies and other curious local stations! We have a vast array of DVDs from various genres.

The whole house has a high-end water treatment system which softens and purifies all the water naturally. Great for drinking and bathing too.

We are happy to make suggestions when asked, based on the interests of the guests, particularly with regard to local dining, attractions and nature oriented destinations.

My first vrbo rental
This was my very first time using VRBO on my own. Everything was superb. We had plenty of blankets and the beds were comfortable. Owner met me and gave me a tour showing everything. Then there was a wonderful book to refer to for what I may have forgotten. WIFI was excellent. Stayed the week before the 4th of July so not real quiet but the noise was a distance away. Overall I would say very quiet area if it had not been that holiday. Didn't spend too much time at the location because we visited family in Canada but this was a great place to land for sleeping and showering. Close to beaches and we just didn't have the time. We will be back and make sure we have time to check out the areas beaches and parks. Thanks for everything Brenda

Nice place, lots of space
Rented the house for the weekend to attend a family reunion. Plenty of space to have some of them over for a dinner one evening. Place was clean and well stocked. Host was very friendly and helpful. The beautiful peacocks coming over from the neighbor's was a bonus!

Country getaway
My sister and I enjoyed staying in this home. It was very well equipped with anything we needed. The owner is nearby and was responsive to any questions. There is a lot of information available as to what to do in the area in the notebook in the home. I enjoyed the short walk down the driveway to look at the harbor in the mornings and evenings. I would definitely recommend this property.

About the host

My husband and I are holistic health practitioners. We love nature, especially bird-life; and feel fortunate to live among them. We adore our trees, having planted over 600 since moving here 22 years ago. We are fans of Rick Steves' style travel, and we love great food and great company.

Why they chose this property

What do we treasure most about the Eagle Retreat House?
1) The privacy- we’re in the middle of nature, yet within minutes of many beaches, stores, banks, and the freeway.
2) The nighttime sky- No city lights dimming your view of the stars.
3) Nature surrounds you with wetlands, forest, meadow and tidal bay.
4) The Birds; eagles, herons, hawks, blue jays, crows, seagulls, towhees, owls, robins, finches, swallows, hummingbirds, and more. Including the rare ‘brandt’ during the April Birding Festival.
5) The animals; mostly deer, rabbits, squirrels, frogs and the occasional rescue emu.
6) Every window has a beautiful view! Northside looks over Drayton Harbor to Semi-ahmoo spit, and White Rock, Canada- showing the Cascades and the mountains behind Vancouver, on a clear day.

What makes this property unique

Views of nature from every window and access to our private labyrinth. Quiet, yet close to water adventures, and golfing. Privacy, no neighbors nearby. A natural bird sanctuary, tucked into the wetlands on the shore of Drayton Harbor, looking across to White Rock, Canada, and the mountains of Vancouver BC.
