Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful spacious bright clean place right on the lake.

The house has everything you could want, rain or shine. A full kitchen that’s very well stocked (even has a Keurig), loads of board games, a tv with a playstation, a poker table, table tennis, and a row boat, canoes, fishing gear, a lovely dock.

The place is peaceful and lovely.

We wished we had stayed longer than just a weekend.

Beautiful lake house packed with amenities

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay of many, and it did not disappoint. We paddled the length of the lake in the canoes, kayak, and rowboat; taught our kids to fish (plenty of sunfish, bass, and perch to catch and release); swam off the dock; hiked in Frontenac Provincial Park; enjoyed roaring bonfires; cooked great meals; lounged inside and out; and most of all relaxed in the very comfortable and well-furnished home. Recommend checking out the great pizza at the newly opened Scheuermann Vineyard & Winery in Westport, a half-hour's drive away.

This was the second time we stayed at this beautiful lake house and it never disappoints! The house is beautifully decorated and stocked with everything and anything you could possibly need/want. Excellent lake for swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing - we easily kept 2 adults, 4 teens and a dog happily entertained for the week! Amazing house, amazing location, amazing hosts what more can anyone ask for. Thanks again Monique and Rolland for another beautiful holiday!

We had such an amazing week at this beautiful cottage! Monique and Roland thought of everything to include at the cottage to make the stay very comfortable. It was so serene and quiet sitting down at the dock at the end of the day. Very relaxing!

nice 3rd week of June 2017

  • 5 of 5

the home and grounds were excellent. pike & bluegill hit very well in June once we found the spots. owner is great to deal with, could not have been a better stay. Also - probably the best dock for a boat of anywhere we have been. Very well equipped kitchen for a rental - and we like to cook.

If you have a larger boat to launch you will need to put in at desert lake causeway and follow the creek, water was about 3 foot deep at the lowest in the channel area, and navigation easy - careful on the narrows between birch and Kingsford (rocky but passable if you watch).

Thanks again for a great visit

Could have been better part 1

  • 2 of 5

As a whole, the experience was nice but it could have been a lot better. It was evident that only the interior of the house was being maintained as there were many issues we had with the exterior. For example the grass was almost knee high and the patio had plastic cups and cutlery that was collecting dust in a corner which shows the outside wasn't cleared of garbage in a while. There was an old barn type building on the property right when you turn into the driveway and it looked like it was close to collapsing which was frightening because we had to park our cars right beside it. There were a lot of mosquitoes and flies that were mostly flying out of the old barn and there was a strange smell around it which lead us to believe there were possibly dead carcasses or animals hiding inside but there was a lock on the door so we did not further investigate. There were many low hanging branches where bugs would jump down from so we couldn't use the trees for shade while outside without bring covered in bugs. The inside was decently sized but there were a lot of small decoration pieces such as glass jars and seashells that are easily broken and we had to move them away first. There was no wifi and very bad cell phone reception so it is best to bring your own movies on a usb or DVDs as the movies that were available were either dated or not appealing (at least to us). The kitchen had all the utensils necessary to cook but there was no dishwasher or even sponges/brushes to wash dishes with even though we were told we only needed to bring food. We were not able to find simple seasonings such as salt and pepper and there was also no range hood which meant even simple meals like eggs and bacon would set off the smoke alarm if the windows were not open. A few of the windows in the main lobby/living room area had no mesh so if you opened the window, bugs and animals were able to fly in. There was no air conditioning so the only remedy for hot weather was using the ceiling fans. The first day we were there, there was no hot water but got that figured out after asking the owner because apparently he accidentally turned the water heater off. The water right off the dock was pretty dirty as there was a dead beaver inside the lake right along the edge of the water. We found a few piles of bones at the park across the lake and heard howling so we recommend being cautious at night.

Owner's Response: A DRUNK-FEST!!! Our greatest fear as property owners is that we will someday end up with irresponsible tenants who damage or leave the property in a sorry state, my day finally arrived! I walked onto the property after checkout in a state of shock. My cleaning lady walked away saying there is no way she is cleaning up after this one. The amount of work that had to be done to get things into a respectful state was beyond what I could do alone. I had to recruit family and friends so I would have the time to get it ready for the next day’s rental. We were busy till the wee hours of the morning. For compensation I retained a part of the required damage deposit. In all my rentals this is the first time I have had to do this. So in retribution Kenny Phavithiran left this malicious review. Reading previous posts it is obvious that this is not how we run things. We pride ourselves in ensuring our guests are well looked after. We had done the same for this group. He sounded trustworthy and sincere. Shame on you Kenny!
