About Kathryn Parker

Hi there, my name is Kathryn.

Eight years ago my husband and three of our five children were living in crowded Vancouver B.C. until one day I found this beautiful little slice of heaven called WATERTON! We decided to move to this gorgeous place with a few close friends. I can honestly say that was one of the best decisions of my life! It had been a dream of ours to move out to property with some of our close friends for a very long time. When we moved to Alberta we searched out properties everywhere and finally decided on this one. Slowly each family has built and moved houses on to the property. We have finally accomplished our dreams! We built our home last year and have loved every minute in it. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Kathryn Parker purchased this house in 2014

Why Kathryn Parker chose Leavitt

When we found this property we knew that this was going to be our slice of heaven. We have worked hard to make it beautiful and enjoyable. The mountain views are STUNNING! The prairie land is spectacular. Our yard has a sunken trampoline, hammocks and a deck with a BBQ. We are making improvements every year to the yard and house.

What makes this house unique

It is secluded and quiet yet not too far away from a grocery store, library, and a live theatre that also shows movies. Oh and don't forget gorgeous Waterton Park! We also have a private country road for walking or cycling. We are close to creeks and lakes and reservoirs!

The town of Cardston has fantastic live theatre throughout the summer, the world famous carriage house museum and a cute sweet shop for candy and ice cream! Our property is close to creeks and lakes and a wonderful walking/ bicycling road. 30 minutes north is a fabulous sandy "beach" - reservoir that the locals go to. We are nestled in between the town of Cardston (15 min) and the town of Waterton(30 min).

This was a great, comfortable place for our family

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 10-day stay at this wonderful house. We wanted to hike in east Glacier National Park in the U.S. and at Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. It was a great location to hit both parks.Additionally, the house itself is great for just some good R&R. Its in a lovely rural area so it was extremely quiet and peaceful (we did hear the occasional "moo" from other local residents). The house is a duplex. The owners live in the other side. That was great! If we needed anything, it was really easy to get ahold of them. The house is set up for kids.It is brilliantly designed and outfitted to handle kids and adults. We loved the way the comfortable bedrooms were all upstairs, and the main floor was reserved for family time. The toys saved our lives, because we had a lone 2-yr-old grandson with us who loved to get up very early. It was great to have a piano, 3 comfortable couches in the living rm, and a big dining room table. The kitchen is truly outfitted for cooking and eating together. There are plenty of cooking utensils, silverware, plates, and glasses. The fridge easily handled our Costco run that lasted 10 days.We used the propane grill outside. The trampoline and slide were great hits.We loved having laundry on-site and when we were tired after days of hiking, canoeing, and running, we used our own Netflix subscr. on the TV in the cozy upstairs family room.We found the house clean and organized upon arrival and supplied with shampoo, cond., soap, towels, linens and extra blankets.Although the A/C was temperamental during our stay, the temp cooled off at night and we were fine. The owners were very responsive to the need for repair and got it fixed as soon as possible. We were so happy to find this family home set up to welcome our family.Just know, it is out in the boondocks! We would recommend that you plan on stocking up on food at a Costco near Calgary or Lethbridge before you come, and there are also smaller grocery stores in Ft. McLeod and Cardston if you need to restock on supplies during your stay. Although there are restaurants in Waterton, we wanted to cook and eat a lot at home. We look forward to coming back, even if we have a smaller group of people. The owners were very welcoming, helpful, and truly wonderful people. I can happily recommend a good long stay here in Leavitt!

The view was amazing but we were disappointed in the condition of the house and yard.

  • 3 of 5

We liked the overall home but it was not clean and there were many things that needed to be repaired. The view out of one of the windows in the master bedroom looked out over a fenced in area that was littered with junk. The other window view was stunning. The fire pit was also filled with junk and there was no hot tub as advertised. I don't count the tub in the master bedroom as a hot tub.

The kids loved the in ground trampoline and the kittens and bunny that belonged to the owner that lived next door.

We paid extra for the two nights we were there because it was a Canadian holiday but don't feel like we got what we paid for.

Owner's Response: I'm so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay. I appreciate your feedback as it helps me to improve upon the experience for future guests. It's always a challenge to open your home to strangers with the imperfections that come with a lived in home. It's true that we have a large junk pile but it is fenced and only visible from one curtained window in the house. The repairs that need to be done in the home are minor and I didn't feel that they interfered with the guest enjoyment of the home which is why they haven't been repaired yet, however, they are on my "to do"list :) Each year we spend time and resources on trying to improve our home and yard with trees, flowers, grass, good beds, cotton linens, kitchen appliances and decor. We strive to make our property better and better but it does take time. I write these comments for future guess, to help with understanding of what kind of a rental this is. We strive to keep our yard and home clean and attractive and we will do our best to make your stay wonderful!

Great place to celebrate Holidays for large group

  • 5 of 5

Really nice place to get rest, to explore some interesting things nearby.

Hosts are great people, helped us with anything we asked them.

House is big and it is ideal for large group, about 13-14 persons.

Ideal base camp for exploring Waterton and Glacier National Parks

  • 5 of 5

5 of us used the home as a base camp for our hiking and photography trip. We spent a few days exploring both Waterton and Glacier parks. The residence is only about 25 minutes from the Waterton park gate and less than 90 minutes from the Glacier park gate. For those not wanting to use the kitchen or barbecue, the best dining options can be found in the Waterton Village. A large well equipped grocery store is about 20 minutes away in Cardston. The views from the back deck are spectacular. The home is out in the country. On a cloudless night the night sky is the most spectacular I have ever seen with the naked eye.
