Kim enjoys working on The Victorian, as well as organizing, decorating and hanging out with the kids. Gavin and Kim celebrated 25 years of marriage in 2013 with a big vow renewal celebration ceremony with family all around and are blessed to be surrounded with so much love!
Kim Inson purchased this chateau / country house in 2001
In 2000, our family was looking for a house that would be large enough to accommodate all of us and there was nothing on the market. So Kim's parents graciously gave them an acre on Hidden Hollow Farm, the family farm, to build their dream house on. After months of design, Kim and Gavin finished the plans for The Victorian and the project was complete in September 2001. From the built-in book shelves to the movie room, every square inch was thought out and planned. With 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, there is plenty of space to spread out. The wrap around front porch, with it's many rocking chairs, is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the view of the barn and fields.
The unique features of The Victorian are the wrap around front porch with rocking chairs, fire pit for makin' s'mores, relaxing hot tub, fun bunkhouse room, cozy theater room, game room with pool table and a short walk to 2 fishing ponds. The perfect quiet get away surrounded by acres of forest, yet less than a mile from grocery stores, main street shopping and many restaurants. Come sit a spell and escape the busyness of life or once you're in relaxation mode, jump in the car for a visit to Washington, DC less than an hour away or take a scenic drive to Shenandoah National Park, about 35 minutes away where you can see Skyline Drive. It's all waiting just for you!
Great house, tons of room and very peaceful/quiet location. We loved it!
So many details to write about... I hope I do not run out of space! I will start with the on line information which was 100 percent accurate. The house was just as great in real life as it was depicted. Kim was our primary contact, answered questions in a timely manner and was super to coordinate with. We appreciated the special touches like the American flag on the front porch, the cozy blanket on the outside entry bench and the welcome board when we arrived. The beds were all comfortable and I think all the beds had two pillows, a nice touch. Rooms full of beds are a fun way to accommodate so many people with one master suite. The layout of the house was incredible and conducive for lots of quality family time together and also for breakout groups. The kitchen with bar stool seating and farm house table adjacent to the off the dining room with a table for 8 was ideal so we could cook together, eat together and play games while allowing others to lounge in the living room. The basement area with game and theatre rooms provided more activity areas. We loved the giant fire pit, hot tub and the beautiful grounds and made use of every aspect of the house. I did not make it over to check out the barn but it was beautiful to see as we drove up to the house and others in my group did enjoy it. The house was decorated with our hosts’ family collections like pictures, books and book cases full of interesting treasures. The welcome book was full of local information and we appreciated the history on the kayak in the six bunk room room. I found myself wanting to know more about the family, the land and the people in the pictures! The hosts are a military family and so were their ancestors which we identified with as our family is he same with three generations of honorably served/serving representing the USAF and USMC. Our group was comprised of Grandmere and Pappy with their daughters and son in laws. Three generations of cousins had the incredible opportunity to be together all under one roof for 36 memorable hours and we are so thankful for our time together. Warrenton, VA was the perfect location for family traveling from Akron, OH and Wilmington, NC to meet exactly half way. The town was adorable with locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs which added to the charm. Since we had a short visit, we stayed close to the house but there is plenty to explore and excursions for groups that have a longer time to explore. Enjoy your visit...we sure did!
AMAZING!!!!!!! I can't thank you enough for sharing your Beautiful home with us.
As I walked up the stairs to your home the patio is decorated for Christmas and looks so Beautiful, but as I opened the door your welcome sign and the Beautiful Christmas tree, it was everything I had hoped for.
We had snow and built a fire in the pit outside, we sat on the front porch, we built a snowman, imagine all adults and family getting along and having a wonderful time together.
My son was Married at Morice Vineyard only a little bit away and we used the Stonebridge event center for the rehearsal dinner, so close, all in all PERFECT!!! Thank you for the early check in and late check out we all left at 11:30 am on Monday.
Warm Regards,
Beverly Lewis and Family
This was the perfect house for my daughter's wedding weekend! The house was big enough to accommodate the parents and bridal party. It would have been nice to have another full size bed, instead of so many bunk-beds. The owners were very accommodating, allowing us to check in early for the rehearsal night. The house sets back off the road and is very private. Thank you for making our stay comfortable!
We had a lovely experience at the Victorian! We had a group of about 12 people for a 30th birthday weekend, and the house was perfect. Close proximity to wineries, and a beautiful property with everything you need for a great weekend with friends. Highly recommend!
Our group had a wonderful and relaxing retreat! The home was very serene and spacious, everyone had plenty of room. The area is very beautiful in the fall! And close to multiple wineries and hikes that we were able to enjoy. Kim is a very gracious host and was quick to respond to any questions we had. Thanks again!!
