About the property

Hot Tub With Large Deck And Fire Pit In Yard; Custom Remodel Threw Out

Maggies Love shack lives up to it name. Weather relaxing in the hot tub under the stars or enjoying a evening warming by the fire pit.

This place was remodeled completely from top to bottom. We have made this place the complete cabin getaway for the city person. It has dimmers on all lights to set the mood; full kitchen with granite counter tops and custom cabinets; hardwood floors threw out the cabin with 2 wool rugs to keep you cozy; new couch with dual recliners; large coffee table; and original fireplace to have a romantic fire. Both bedrooms have down comforters with lots of pillows and mirrors at the foot of the beds.

Across the street we have Maggies Cabin. It is our riverfront cabin. The listing number is 47139.

This property is not on the river and does not have river access. You can access river at the single lane suspension bridge about 6 cabins up river from Maggies Love shack. You can also enjoy the river from the baseball park in Skykomish. It is just east of town a couple miles . There also is a waterfall west of cabin about 2 miles. You will see many cars parked on both sides of the road in the summer. Very popular.

You will need a car to get to the cabin. *** For full disclosure: Our community is just off highway 2 (as are most of the communities in the area). You can see from our reviews that most guests enjoyed their stay. The train is on the other side of the hwy.

About Colleen

I have been working in customer service at Gene Juarez for 27 years and this was a easy extension of what I love to do. My husband and I were married up here and love the setting. I feel so lucky to share this cabin with my guests. Lots of love went into every touch of this cabin.

Colleen purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Colleen chose Baring

We had always wondered who the owners were of the this cabin ... they happened to be moving things out to sale it when we went by. The nice older couple told us of how they built this place and don't have time to enjoy any more. We left with a hand shake and ended up buying the place a week later.

What makes this cabin unique

Maggies Love shack has a wonderful deck. It is on 3 sides of the property with stairs leading to the custom built fire pit that you can even cook on. We have a small covered area to cook out under and large 5 person hot tub. I have lights all around the deck to complete the romantic setting.

Nice little touch with the souvenir cups and sparkling wine. Was great to have the hot tub, fire pit, WiFi, and tv options. Thanks for sharing your little bit of paradise with others!

A jewel in the woods

  • 5 of 5

I didn’t want a midweek stay out of town. I had multiple assignments at work that were approaching deadline. However, my Nubian princess insisted I put her first and take her to the mountains. So we left the big city and headed up Hwy 2.

I was first taken aback at the majestic scenery along the way. After leaving the gateway to the Cascades (Monroe) the mountains loomed before us and beckoned. We wound our way through Sultan then Startup, slowed down in Goldbar (first stopping at the Family Grocer for supplies then Zekes for sustenance) and passing the Index cutoff and the coffee stand promising a glimpse of Bigfoot. 7 miles later we arrived turning onto an unmarked road and came upon a bear statute holding a sign, “Maggies Love Shack,” announcing a charming cedar shingled Cabin in the Woods.

Upon entering the cabin, we were greeted by a spacious mud room in which to remove our shoes and store our gear. After doing so, we took a small step up into a pine paneled room with oak floors, two sets of French doors, a kitchen with granite counter tops and two bedrooms with mirrored walls promising to deliver on the promise of “love shack.”

After christening the love shack appropriately, we explored the wrap around deck and decided to relax in the large hot tub. Later, we grilled the steaks purchased in Goldbar on the Weber gas grille located under a large gazebo.

After dinner we sat around the fire pit and regaled each other with memories of The Cabin in the Woods and These Hills Have Eyes, aware of the notices encouraging alertness and responsibility for the occasional bear visitor.

The next day, we took a hike in the woods, started a fire, had another hot tub, tested the Love Shack promise and prepared another exquisite meal of hot dogs on the grille.

I have to say, I forgot about those deadlines awaiting me in the City. My princess was right. There are more important things than work. I rediscovered them at Maggies Love Shack.

Cute cabin but needs some fixing.

  • 2 of 5

It is a cute little cabin, close too but not in a great area. The bathroom is tiny and 6he shower is so small if you bump the handle and make the water hot there isn't enough room to get out of the way of the hot water without burning your goods. The hot tub stinks like mold and the BBQ barely works, which is a bummer since the electricity was out two of the days and it's the only way to cook your food. It would be much better for a summer time cabin when it's easier and not so cold without electricity. Bottom line we would never stay here again even though it was cute.

Owner's Response: I realize power outages can put a damper on what you had planed for your holiday. (Being...Easter weekend and hard to cook breakfast on the Weber BBQ) I was a bit surpised by your review as my property manager started generator for you on both mornings that the power went out. He made sure you were ok and asked if you needing anything. We usually don’t get snow so late in the spring. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts as we do try to make our cabin a wonderful getaway for our guests.

Excellent place for a cozy get-away

  • 5 of 5

Great place to mix work and play-- made a writing retreat with rewards of skiing, soaking in the hot tub, and enjoying some serenity in Baring. The cabin is very well-outfitted for cooking and staying for multiple days.
