Enjoy the fantastic views from this comfortable home on McCalley's Creek. Catch shrimp, fish, and crabs from the dock or simply sit and watch the porpoises swim by. The 10x20 floating dock can accommodate most any size boat and the community boat landing is just a minute away. Bring your boat, waverunners, or kayaks and enjoy!
The neighborhood is very kid friendly and there is plenty outdoor activities for them to enjoy.
The house is close to Beaufort and Parris Island (16 miles) and it's an easy drive to the beach. The house has a very relaxed feel and sleeps 10+ with four bedrooms Two bedrooms are on the main level (both with queen beds) and two bedrooms are upstairs (one with queen beds and a daybed and another with two twins and a daybed), There are three full bathrooms as well as a fourth bathroom under the house.
NOTE: Linens ARE provided (sheets, towels, etc.) as are paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, etc.
The screened in back porch is very comfortable and has a ceiling fan to provide a breeze as you unwind at the end of the day. The front porch has four rocking chairs if you prefer relax that way. Of course, you can also sit on the dock and enjoy the breeze as you commune with nature.
The house has cable tv and Wi-Fi internet service. Of course, you probably won't use much of either with all the entertainment options that Beaufort provides.
The house is an easy drive to Parris Island for graduation. In fact, my youngest son graduated from PI in December 2012. So, yes, our family is very pro-military.
NOTE: I offer a 10% discount for those attending Parris Island graduations.
No Smoking in the house, please
I grew up in Beaufort (working on a shrimp boat..believe it or not), graduated from high school here and graduated from the University of South Carolina. I've lived in England and many states in the US. However, I am happiest in the Beaufort and call the Low Country home. Even though I travel much of the time for work, I bought this house so my two boys could experience growing up on the water. I think all kids should have the experience of building castles on a sand bar, catching blue crabs on a string, and swimming in a saltwater creek.
William Howerton purchased this house in 2005
My best friend in high school (and still one of my best friends to this day) grew up in the house next to this house. In fact, I helped his family build their house! So, when this house became available in 2005 it was an easy decision to buy it. I spent many hours in the saltwater creek and buying this house was like "coming home". This has always been a kid friendly neighborhood and is a great place for people of all ages.
Being on deep water has all the advantages you would. Shrimp, fish and crabs are easily available to catch. You can sit under the covered dock and just watch the tide roll away as you relax in the to the sounds of wildlife. In the morning you can drink coffee on the covered porch and watch the sunrise. The colors of the sunrise in Beaufort are truly beautiful. I could write about the serenity of being on the water all day. However, it is something that has to be experienced to be understood.
Beautiful house with great views on the waterfront, in a great location. We spent the week of Thanksgiving there with friends and family frequently visiting, and there was always plenty of room. Convenient boat landing a few blocks from the house. We caught shrimp, blue crab, red fish, and trout right off the dock. The dock is large with plenty of room to dock boats and a covered area with running water. The owner is very helpful and quick to respond to any needs or questions.
The house was lovely. We had a wonderful time and the distance to Parris Island was great! Everyone was comfortable and happy with their rooms. We will use this home (if there is availability) on our next return for our next Marine Corps Graduation. Our only regret was that it was too cold in November to go swimming.
This house was perfect for us. We came to see a friend's son graduate from basic training at Parris Island. This house was close to the base for going to see him on Family day and Graduation day. We really enjoyed our stay.
My extended family of 8 stayed here comfortably for my son's USMC graduation from Parris Island. Even after enduring a tropical storm (resulting from hurricane Irma) just days before our arrival this home was PERFECT. The owner was incredibly quick to communicate. An easy 20-min drive to Parris Island. Nearby city conveniences: restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. We were too busy to go to beaches but loved sitting on the dock looking for porpoises when we could! Lots of room to spread out and be alone but plentiful seating when we all wanted to hangout together.
Clean & comfortable. A home away from home. Easy drive to Paris Island. Would recommend for anyone with family size 6-10.
The rental house is well maintained. It has a long pier that provides a relaxing sitting area with great views of the river. While the fishing in this area is not good this time of year, crabbing off the pier was excellent.
16 miles to Parris Island!
