About this property

Large eclectic Maison de Bourgeois in heart of French Natural Park

Nestled in the small village of Martizay, Indre. The surrounding countryside is part of the Brenne national park, also known as the land of a thousand lakes.
The airports of Tours to the north and Poitiers to the west are less than an hour away. The fast train from Paris stops at Chatellerault which is only 20 minutes.
The house is available for all kinds of photographic shoots and select holidays/knees ups, and can easily sleep 12.
The House is the main house on the village square - which also has a boulangerie & Bar/Tabac on it. The village also has a supermarket, boucherie, post office, restaurant and 2 hairdressers!
The house is set over three storeys - the ground floor has a dining room, lounge, bar, and large country style kitchen. The first floor has a bathroom, shower room and four bedrooms, on which has its own bathroom. The huge attic room has three double beds and its own bathroom. There is a toilet on the ground floor.
There is a secluded courtyard with outside lighting and dining table & chairs.

The house has a large walled garden which is not attached to the house (its a 5 minute walk away) It has private bank to the River Claise and has excellent course fishing.

Free Calls back to the US and wireless internet throughout. Massive CD and Video Library. The decor is quirky and eclectic - the house has featured in many Interiors features in the UK press.

The leisure lake Bellebouche is 15mins away with swimming and sailing facilities and there are many rivers in the vicinity ideal for canoeing, fishing and wild swimming.

A great base to explore the Loire Chateaus, the Brenne natural Park, the Touraine wine region and all the delights of rural France.

Wanted to find somewhere in the area which had a village location with easy (walking) access to basic shops and restaurants for nine people in a traditional French setting. The property fulfilled the brief perfectly, the courtyard was excellent to get together and the river frontage garden was a bonus. Rooms all a good size especially the kitchen.

Excellent bubble
We have found an excellent last minute holiday home in Martizay. The kitchen was very well equipped combined with the closed outside patio, made cooking and eating an absolute feast. There is a goatfarm nearby with a fantastic collection of cheeses and other goat related food. With a bakery and a supermarket just around the corner you do not need to go far. There is an infrequent market across the road. The house Itself is old and beautifully decorated. There are enough bathrooms with excellent warm water. The bedrooms large with good closet space. The additional garden which is a few minutes walk from the house is a very nice place during the hot days. Our dog had a wunderfull time there in the water. A pity was that the canoe was not available nor the bikes, hut in the end we did not miss those. Lain and Liz were very kind. We had a great stay!

Antique countyside château
Stayed there with my friends during IPSC World Shoot 2017 sporting event in Châteauroux. Thanks to very hospitable owners check in and check out were as easy as it could be. The 3-storey house is huge: 5 bedrooms plus 2 living rooms, just right for a large loud company! Big kitchen has the door to the yard with table and grill -- definite place to gather at evenings. This is really a countryside: small tiny quiet village. Also, there is a separate beautiful piece of land on the local river 5 min walk from the household. The downside is lack of any foodstores or restaurants in the village but there are some in 20-30 min reach. Perfect place to stay if you don't expect 5 stars hotel service.
