Harbor View is a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo at Battery Hill, an intimate 9 unit condominium complex nestled at the top of the hill overlooking Cruz Bay and town. This newly purchased and completely renovated unit is a Caribbean gem, with an open living plan, a fully equipped kitchen, the entire space is completely refurnished in lovely, bright island décor, with a queen sized master bedroom and a queen sized bed in the expansive loft bedroom.
The two story unit is the top floor of the 2 unit building in the complex, with its own separate entrance. The mahogany doors open to the fabulous 24’ high tongue and groove, beamed ceilings. The jalousie windows and six Hunter Fans circulate the tropical breezes and Trade Winds (air conditioning is available for the rare nights it is needed).
Harbor View is the perfect spot to have your morning coffee and breakfast on the patio overlooking the harbor and the islands, watching the ferries and the sailboats wend their way to St. Thomas, Jost Van Dyke, Tortola and Virgin Gorda. Take a morning hike
to Honeymoon or Salomon Bays nearby for a swim or head to one of the 39 beaches the island has to offer. After a day at the beach or island exploring, enjoy cocktails on the patio watching the sun go down before a walk to town for dinner at one of the many
great restaurants. If you choose instead to swim in the pool and cook burgers and steaks on the Battery Hill grill....you may enjoy dinner al fresco on the patio or in the dining area with banquet and table in the condo itself...everything you could possibly want in paradise...sunrise, sunset and moonrise over the hills above town, brilliant stars overhead. Magnificent vistas of aqualine waters just outside your piece of heaven. Discover the names of the islands just offshore on the the maps provided.
Being situated within walking distance to town, enables you to pop down for shopping, drinks at the beach bars, dining and browsing around without having to drive and try to find a scarce parking spot. If you choose to rent a vehicle, there is off street parking provided at the Battery complex. Renting a vehicle is optional as there is taxi service available to shuttle you around town and to the beautiful National Park North Shore beaches.
Our home on the hillside will be yours, with everything you need....just bring your flip-flops, swimsuits and coverups, shorts and t-shirts, a sundress or two...unpack your roll-on bags...you have arrived!
Nadine and Peter live in Boston Massachusetts. We visited the island while staying on St. Thomas....on a whim, we started looking on St. John for properties....The Perch, our own Harbor View was the first place we saw....we fell in love...the rest is history! Six months of extensive renovations and voila, we have our own magical, carefree spot in paradise. This is our HOME, we hope you love it as much as we do...

The perfect location...walking distance to town, magnificent views and if one chooses to rent a car, there is off street parking at the Battery Hill complex. Everything is right at your fingertips, restaurants, groceries, scuba and snorkeling shops...beaches galore, a little shopping, a drink on the beach on the harbor below, constant warm tropical breezes.
The views, the views, the views...harbor, islands, mountains, hillsides and TOWN...beautiful, crystal clear, turquoise waters and white, powdery sand beaches! AND our beautiful home with 24' ceilings, all white and bright and Caribbean delight!!!

Our week stay in this condo was perfect! The owners provided everything and their property manager was available for any questions. Great views, walkable to town and accessible to everything. Highly recommended!
Love this beautiful condo! We stayed in July 2016 (four adults total) and found the home very welcoming, charmingly decorated, and comfortable. There is a bright, airy feeling to the space, which is quite ample for two couples. The grounds have been well-maintained, including a very nice pool area; the interior of the condo has a clean and new feel, and seems to have been recently renovated. We particularly enjoyed the sunset views from the patio! Just gorgeous.
Nadine, the owner, made everything very easy for us. She happily answered all of my (many!) questions prior to the trip, and gave tons of useful information about the island. The caretakers, Peter and Gail, also went out of their way to be available to us- from the moment they picked us up at the dock in Cruz Bay, or when we had a question, they responded right away. Having rented on St. John and in the BVI before (different condos/management companies), we were not expecting such a personalized and gracious approach! A lovely gesture was the tasty gift basket waiting for us when we arrived- filled with delicious treats from a local deli.
One thing to consider (if you tend to sleep in late)- there is construction being done on a building nearby. At times, during the day when we happened to stop in, we noticed it being rather loud. This was not an issue for us, mainly because: who wants to sleep in and waste daylight hours in one of the prettiest places in the Caribbean? For some people, it could be annoying, though, so I feel compelled to mention it.
For us, the location of the condo was close enough to town and nearby beaches that we chose to avoid the hassle of renting a car on the island. Instead, we took the opportunity to get in some exercise and walked (or bused/taxied) everywhere we wanted to go. Even if you're not into hiking, the walk into town is very doable for most people. There are plenty of good restaurants and some nice shopping areas within a short walk of the property.
Nadine recommended that we pack lightly- we took her advice and did exactly that, and were glad! She has thoughtfully stocked the house with most anything you can think of- spare hats, beach bags, coolers, even sunscreen and bug spray.
We hope to return one day soon!
We absolutely loved your wonderful condo. It was perfect for our family of 4 and it had everything we needed for cooking when we decided to eat in. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. The only negative was the week we chose -- Carnival celebration the last week of June. Music from downtown St. John went until 3:00 am each day and reverberated off the mountain. Much louder in our condo than in downtown. Other than that week, we'd love to come again!
Harbor View is just that-great views of the harbor! The condo is perfectly decorated with a cottage feel-nice and comfortable-with personality. It feels like home and has all amenities from the dishes in the cupboard to the comfortable beds and fun bedding. It is on the top of the hill but that is why the views are so incredible and if you are not in the mood to walk up the hill, there are always taxis to carry you. This condo is so cute is should be in a magazine!
The pictures of the Artists Caribbean Gem condo DO NOT do this lovely home justice! The interior is beautiful and immaculately kept by the owners. There is more than ample room, and the décor is perfect. The owners are most generous: They provided sunscreen, shampoo, soap, beach chairs, coolers, maps, books, DVDs, hats, mosquito repellent, WIFI, and a welcome basket which included delicious goodies! The views from the condo are beautiful as well; you can see Cruz Bay, the mountain-side, and iguanas living in a neighboring tree. The walk from the condo to Cruz Bay was good for us, especially after having a big meal! WE TRULY LOVED THIS PLACE!!!
St. John is over 70% National Park, there are beautiful trail walks and hikes allover the island. You can go to a different beach everyday, one for privacy, one for snorkeling, one for sunbathing or reading seated on a beach chair under the seagrape trees. 39 beaches in all.
