Stylish and comfortable, Tortuga Point House was completed in 2009. Elevated to capture both the unencumbered panoramic view of Cherokee Sound and refreshing island breezes, the house is the last one at the end of the lane. The ever changing blues and greens of the sparkling waters are yours to enjoy from the deck and many windows. The vaulted cypress paneled ceiling allows for radiant light throughout the day in the great room and master bedroom.
The great room encompasses the open kitchen, dining and seating areas. The kitchen is fully stocked with an expansive granite island with seating for two. The adjacent dining table seats six. A comfy Tommy Bahama couch and two club chairs face a flat screen television. An eclectic mix of artwork is found throughout the house.
The Patio/ deck combination overlooks the private sea wall along a canal bordered by mangroves. Beyond the mangroves is the tropical luminescence of Cherokee Sound. Under the covered patio, you'll find a dining table with seating for four along with a Ducane grill. Beyond the patio is an open deck ideal for sunbathing and catching that island breeze. It's the perfect spot for relaxing with your favorite tropical drink while enjoying the late day sun bouncing off the waters of Cherokee Sound.
A separate, private deck is also found off the master bedroom. Fine furnishings include a queen size bed, bureau and flat screen television. Bathroom with uniquely tiled shower and walk in closet complete the master suite.
Two additional bedrooms have west facing views over wetlands. Queen size bed, bureau and closet in one. Double futon, closet and flat screen television with DVD player in the other.
A second full bathroom with uniquely tiled tub/ shower combo is near the bedrooms. Hotel quality towels and linens provided. The enclosed washer and dryer are adjacent to this second bedroom.
Two kayaks provided; a double and a single.
Thirteen foot Boston Whaler available for rent.
Casuarina Point is a quiet, low key residential community on Cherokee sound, 17 miles south of Marsh Harbour. Numerous water activities abound: boating, fishing, snorkeling, swimming, along with shelling and exploring the miles of white sand beach. Cherokee Sound boasts shallow, tranquil water protected from the ocean by barrier reefs. Starfish, conch, the occasional sea turtle and various other sea creatures are readily seen in the clear, crystal water and the local blue holes.
Cherokee Sound is a bonefishing, deep sea, diving and snorkeling destination. One flat is a short walk from the house with many more accessible by kayak or boat. Or, for blue water fishing, a guide can pick you up from your private sea wall with mahi, tuna, wahoo, sailfish and other deep sea fish less than 10 minutes away.
The 8 mile white sand beach of Casuarina Point is accessible by a short walk down two sandy streets, about the equivalent of two city blocks. Kayaking down the canal to Cherokee Sound and the beach is also enjoyable. If the 13' boat is rented, the beach is a two minute boat ride away.
