About Bonnie Abel

I grew up on this cattle ranch. I am a 3rd generation owner of the ranch. I love the beauty, wildlife, cattle, horses, the work, the spacious land, the feeling of serenity, the moments to just absorb the surroundings.

Two of our children and their familes live on the ranch.

Bonnie Abel purchased this farmhouse in 1992

Why Bonnie Abel chose Ashland

This a great place! It is an enjoyable site to view wildlife, cattle, horses.

It is very relaxing yet close to lots of activities. You can enjoy the ranch without the work. We are in our own little valley. The Irvine-Roberts Winery, tasting room & vineyard opened last year they are within walking distance or short drive down the road. The Belle Fiore Event Center, Winery and Vineyard are also located a short drive down the road. both places are beautiful. You can visit downtown Ashland, the Rogue River, take in the activities in Jacksonville, visit Crater Lake then return here soak in the hot tub and relax. There is a waterfall and small lake/reservoir within walking distance or you may drive down and park below the waterfall. We have picnic tables to use. There are fish in the lake. You do need to beware of rattlesnakes.

What makes this farmhouse unique

I have kept the ranch very private. You are able to view the cattle grazing, the birds & wildlife, feel the peace. There are wild & "kind of" tame horses which roam the ranch. We are in our own valley on a private road. Emigrant Creek runs through the riparian area. The county road ends just after the 2nd cattle guard and when you come through our gate you are on Emigrant Creek Ranch with its wild and a little tamed beauty. We are neighbors with the Irvine-Roberts Winery and Vineyard. It is within walking distance or a short drive down the road. The Belle Fiore Winery and Event Center and their Vineyard is also nearby. Our place is comfortable, and relaxing . It is nature, we love it!

A Little Piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation here, nestled in this sweet valley with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. It was very peaceful and relaxing. House itself was very nice and well-appointed. The deck was facing the mountain and the cows on the mountain and was perfect for sipping wine and letting the big city tension melt away. And did I mention that there was an Olympic sized Hot Tub. Could fit 10 easy. The only positive criticism I have is that for people who like to cook, a few more items like a grater, sharper knives, a larger frying pan, while not big ticket items, would add to the experience of meal preparation. Otherwise the kitchen had plenty of everything else you would expect including plates glassware and silverware. Anyway this was not really a problem and I would not at all reduce the number of stars because they would only make a terrific rental only marginally better. If you want a quality and quieter experience away from the bustle of downtown Ashland this rental will not disappoint.

It was GREAT!

  • 5 of 5

Our grand kids really enjoyed the outside. They watched the cows and a lot of wild turkeys.

The house was comfortable and clean. Everything worked great. One can opener would not work. We purchased a similar one from RiteAid and left it for the next guest. We were pleased with our stay.

Plenty of space for 8 of us. Everyone loved the hot tub and the views. We enjoyed the remote location and easy access to the lake, wineries and downtown. Every single one of us would come back.
