Our spacious condo (4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 balconies) is steps from the beach and within walking distance of a variety of restaurants. Imperial Beach is often referred as the "Most Southwesterly City in the U.S." We love our easy-going, carefree beach town, where you can experience amazing sunsets and long unobstructed walks on the beach and the historic IB Pier. You can bike (or skate) the Bayshore Bikeway, San Diego's 24-mile bike route from downtown SD to Coronado along the Silver Strand.
"Fun by the Sand" is ideal for families and/or group of friends to relax, unwind, and long walks on the beach. Our condo sits on the second and third floors of the building. There is a commercial business on the first floor. There is no elevator. The front door entrance and the back entrance through the garage are at street level and have stairs to the main floor. Another flight of stairs takes you to the top bedroom on the 3rd floor. Guests have access to the entire condo, except the storage room.
The condo has central heating and AC, a fully stocked kitchen, stainless steel appliances (dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas range and oven), small appliances (coffee maker, toaster, blender, waffle maker), pots, pans, baking items, glassware, dinnerware, utensils and cutlery. The washer, dryer and beach chairs are in the garage.
There are 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and 2 balconies. Bedroom 1 on the top floor is the most spacious with ocean view, king bed, its own bathroom (shower/bathtub), desk workspace, 55” TV with cable, and reading nook. It has an ottoman with a pull-out smaller than a twin-size bed if needed (for a child). Bedroom 2 is on the main floor, has a king bed, its own bathroom (shower/bathtub, 2 sinks), smart 50" TV, mirrored closet doors, and a West facing balcony with great ocean views. Bedroom 3, also on the main floor, has a queen bed, smart 58" TV and ocean view. Bedroom 4, also on the main floor, has a queen bed, mirrored closet doors and ocean view. All bedrooms have ample space for clothing storage, hangers, laundry basket, beach towels, extra blanket and throw.
The unit has an open-floor with a living room set (not sleeper sofa), a counter-height dining table (4-6) and a bar-height counter in the kitchen (3). This room is very bright and airy, with the east facing balcony providing a soothing breeze.
The garage has one space for compact car and one additional space on the driveway. Free street parking options are available, both unlimited and with time restrictions.
I welcome, and encourage, guests' questions ahead of their stay. When you book the unit, I will give you a code for the front door, the garage door and the interior door from the garage to the unit. The code changes once you leave. If possible, I welcome guests when they arrive, as I live nearby.
Please note that while our home is great for family groups, it is not child-proof. We do not have children’s items (pack n' play, safety gates for stairs, highchair, locks-on drawers/cabinets, covered outlets, etc.). The unit has two balconies with furniture, 3 sets of stairs and a banister, thus young children must be supervised.
Our unit sleeps 8 people comfortably. Rates are based on 6 guests, add $10.00 per night for each additional guest up to 8. Our beach, as well as others in San Diego, has experienced closures, with city notices to avoid the water, but one can still enjoy walking on the beach. I encourage guests to check status of San Diego beaches at "sdbeachinfo."
The Ye Old Plank Inn bar is across the street. It is the oldest bar in IB and one of the oldest in California. Patrons can be noisy when leaving, but if you read guests’ reviews you can see it’s rarely an issue, especially with the windows closed.
