Rubicon Farm is a private property that has been on the National Register of Historic Places since the 1960s. The house has an updated, fully equipped kitchen, three bedrooms -- two with queen beds, and one with a double and one twin -- and one and a half baths. Washer/dryer, Wifi, cable TV with DVDs, ping pong table and more.
Plan to do nothing but relax, or enjoy the nearby Coore & Crenshaw-designed golf courses (Dormie Club and Pinehurst No. 2), wonderful pottery venues, quail hunting, the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens and more. The cookbook author owner will provide full breakfasts throughout your stay.
Built by the Black family in the 1820s and once 1000 acres of pine trees harvested for pitch, the Cole family assumed the property through marriage in the 1850s and owned Rubicon until 1968 when a series of new owners undertook periodic restorations of the Federal-style house. The current owners bought Rubicon in 2005 and turned the house into a comfortable getaway for their family.
