About this property

2 BR Lakefront suite on Okanagan Lake With Private deck, dock, boat lift.

Address: 2200 Dewdney Rd. Kelowna B.C.

Escape on the Lake is the perfect lakeshore setting for your Okanagan Lake holiday in Kelowna for up to 6 guests. We operate under a municipal BnB license we have held for many years. Our operations are not affected by recent legislative changes by the Province and City targeting "short term rentals" so you can book with confidence you'll have a place to stay. Continental breakfast food is provided and we'll confirm menu prior to arrival. We have a dock where you can moor your power boat, PWC, or sail boat. From the property you can launch your paddle board, kayak, swim, float, walk, run, cycle, wine tour, golf, read, soak up the sun, or lounge on the patio or the dock.

We rent to only one group at a time. We have 2 large bedrooms, one with a King Bed and a full sized shower ensuite and the other with a Queen Bed and a full sizedTub/hand shower ensuite. The main sitting area has a pull out couch to sleep a 5th and 6th person(s) in your group. The number of guests cannot be increased after the booking is confirmed.

Spectacular views from large 10' ceilings and picture windows. There is a sitting and dining area, dishes, utensils, counter, sink, and linens in the kitchenette. BBQ but no stove/oven. It has a full size fridge, dishwasher, kettle, blender, toaster, etc. Cable TV with wireless internet; free on site parking for two vehicles and boat trailer. Guests must be able to navigate stairs to enjoy this hillside property. Dock with boat moorage (5000 lb manual boat lift) is yours to enjoy.

This property is in the McKinley Landing neighborhood approximately 10 minutes from shopping and services either in Lake Country to the north or in the Glenmore neighborhood of Kelowna to the south. We are 15 minutes from Kelowna International Airport, and 20 minutes from downtown Kelowna and many golf courses and wineries.

Paradise
Marnie and Roy are beyond helpful. Any questions or anything we needed they were there for us. Myself, my husband, daughter and her family spent a week here. It was fantastic! Our 4 year old granddaughter spent time swimming and playing out at the dock. She LOVED it. My husband spent time fishing the lake and had a great time. Thank you Roy for all the tips! The dock in the evening with a glass of wine ......heaven! We Highly recommend this piece of paradise!

Great place, and great owners!
Honestly, I can't think of a single negative from our trip. The property is incredible, the residence was exactly as advertised, if not better, and we had a great trip. Marnie and Roy are incredible people who went out of their way to ensure that our every need was covered, and any chance of something not being stellar was dealt with. You cannot beat the location right on the lake. The views are something that we would never get in Calgary, and something that is even rare in the Kelowna area. We had no concerns or issues during our trip, and the check-in and out procedures were super simple. Honestly, it was the most laid-back vacation I have had in at least 6 years. If you're looking for a beautiful and quiet place to kick your feet up and relax, this is your place. Thanks, very much again, to Marnie and Roy for pulling out all the stops for us.

A Slice of Heaven!
Our family of six stayed at Marnie and Roy’s home from July 26 to August 5th 2020. The accommodations, landscaping and amenities not only met our expectations, they exceeded them! To say the home was immaculate is an understatement! Although there were a number of stairs to access the dock from the home, they were no problem. Now what to say about Marnie and Roy…... In a nutshell, both are fantastic hosts and fantastic people. So down to earth and very easy to approach. Although they stay at the home (on the second floor), they never intruded on our vacation. Along with great weather, fantastic hosts, a beautiful home, quick access to the water and local golf courses, our vacation was a 10 out of 10. During our stay, a cell phone and a pair of sunglasses fell off the dock into 15 feet of water. We thought both were never to be seen again. In came Roy- he voluntarily put on a snorkel mask and found both the cell phone (which survived) and sun glasses. So awesome! We hope to be back again soon!

Lovely Stay
The suite was very modern and clean. The kitchen is small but serviceable and as others have stated, we did most of our cooking on the BBQ. We stayed for two weeks and Marnie offered to clean our bedsheets and towels after we had been there for a week and Roy even vacuumed the suite once too, which were really appreciated. The dock was large and had a gazebo for some shade when needed. Enjoyed our hosts and our stay.

Beautiful Lake Views
Unit was clean and comfortable. Although there is no stove/oven there is a BBQ which worked very well in its place. There is a wonderful covered patio overlooking the lake. We would have our morning coffee out there. There are a lot of steps down to the dock. The dock also has a covered gazebo and lots of chairs .

About the host

I originally came to Kelowna from Toronto. I arrived here after graduating with my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary just to spend some time with my parents who were living here since my father's retirement. I met my husband, Roy Sommerey in 1986 and after we married, the decision to establish roots in Kelowna followed. I worked as a social worker, and I am now a retired clinical counsellor. I enjoy traveling, playing the piano, and boating. Gardening would be great if the deer didn't eat everything!

After buying this property which at that time had a small cabin on it, we got right down to business and bought our first used boat and a boat lift so that we could enjoy the full extent of the Okanagan lakeshore lifestyle. Since then we rebuilt the house, the dock and bought a newer boat. After building the house we began operating a bed and breakfast which has provided guests with an excellent home base for their holidays in the Kelowna area.

Why they chose this property

We selected this property because it is on the lake, as connected to the natural surroundings as a home can be. The property has been intricately landscaped with numerous distinct garden areas and patios and sitting areas. It is a wonderful site that most people say is well beyond what they saw in pictures. We love living here. If you choose to base your holiday at our B and B, you will be as amazed with the lifestyle as we were and still are, maybe even more so as we are used to it.

What makes this property unique

Guests love the outdoor lifestyle of sitting on the covered deck or on the dock, boating, and using the lake in a private setting. The wildlife adds what we cannot. Guests are entertained by deer, birds of all kinds from eagles to hummingbirds.
