About Dana Clough

The Herreshoff Marine Museum is dedicated to the education of the public through presentations of the historic, innovative designs of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, Bristol’s great, internationally acclaimed 19th & 20th century yacht design company. The Herreshoff firm produced some of the fastest & most beautifully designed wooden yachts of their day and were responsible for some of the most celebrated yachts in America’s Cup history. Today we celebrate excellence in design, innovation, education, and technologyum

Why Dana Clough chose Bristol

"Peacock Alley" was the area of the Herreshoff Boatyard where the great America's Cup yachts of the late 19th and early 20th century - the "peacocks" - were hauled out of the water and repaired. When the Museum had the opportunity to buy the house that now occupies that particular spot, we jumped at it, and the Peacock Alley House was born.

What makes this house unique

Peacock Alley at the Herreshoff Museum is RIGHT on the water - the views are amazing! Sailing, kayaking, fishing, boating and watersports are literally just yards is mooring or dock space for your boat. The restaurants, shops and amenities of downtown Bristol are a short two block walk away, so throw your car keys in your suitcase, you won't be needing them. There is a weekly Farmers Market at nearby Mt Hope Farm, and the 18 mile long East Bay Bike Path starts right in the center of town. A gorgeous little un-touristy, old fashioned New England town that is steeped in history, Bristol is only 20 minutes away from the excitements of Newport and Providence.

Beautiful home and stunning water views

  • 5 of 5

We rented Peacock alley for our wedding weekend at the Hereschoff marine museum and we could not have asked for a more perfect stay. The house is right next to the wedding venue, making it an easy place for our families to gather and prepare for the wedding day. The house itself was beautiful and spacious, with views overlooking the bay. The communication and check-in process was seamless and accommodating. Thank you for helping contribute to such a memorable weekend and we hope we can return for a future stay!

Wonderful Stay In Bristol

  • 5 of 5

The property is full of light, space and fantastic views of Bristol Harbor. Our party was 6 adults plus children and we found the home both clean and very well appointed with linens, equipment and space. There is plenty of room to be together on the main floor and also for privacy in different areas. We were all treated like VIP guests by the Herreshoff Museum staff and were able to sail from the Museum floating docks which was a real treat. The home is within easy walking distance of the town, shops, restaurants and a great playground at the elementary school. It was perfect for our reunion/graduation three day weekend over Memorial Day this year.

Thank you to Elisabeth and everyone who made our special weekend possible!
