Madeline Island with Unobstructed Sunsets And Views Of Other Apostle Islands

Bedrooms 3
Space 130 m²
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom And Bunkhouse With Lake Views

Spectacular sunset views await you. Take in the breathtaking view of Lake Superior from the, deck, screened in porch or living room. Located 2 miles from the quaint Town of La Pointe and 4 miles from Big Bay Town Park (recently upgraded with a great group bbq area). Pick your spot to decompress from the madness and soak in the peacefulness of Madeline Island. Just as an FYI, we lost our dock in 2017 to mother nature and the power of the lake. Due to high lake levels we are not sure when we will be able to rebuild the docks.

This new to the rental market, three-bedroom cabin includes a bunkhouse that can sleep an additional four young adults for a total of 10 people. The home sits on 5 wooded acres with 300 feet of lake frontage. The bedrooms include two full and two twin beds. This property has a classic cottage feel with hardwood floors, wood paneled walls and a massive fireplace. Bring yourself back to a simpler time; grab a book from the shelf or a game for the family. Enjoy your choice of showering indoor or outside.

The Town of La Pointe has restaurants, churches, library bars, bakery, coffee shop, grocery stores, moped and bike rental. The island includes a Scottish links style Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf course, airport, and marina.

We recommend that you bring all your own food, beverages, condiments and spices. Beach towels are not available so please bring your own. Bathroom towels should be used only for use at the cabin.

About Dave Marchetti

A long long time ago my grandparents purchased a cottage with a college dentist friend and every now and again they would do dentist type stuff in a small room off the back of the house. They began their journey summering in the 40's. I was introduced to the Island as a young boy by my grandparents staying in that small cottage with all of my aunts and uncles. Great memories were made those summers that I cherish to this day.

Dave Marchetti purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Dave Marchetti chose La Pointe

There are few properties that are on the water with this view. There is no road in front of your view or shared by others, this is for you and your family to enjoy. I love that this is close to town and it is on blacktop road.

What makes this cabin unique

This was owned by a long time island family that knew how to take care of their stuff. I fell in love with the details and the quality of what was there. Even their cheese grater was quality. I hope you see the small details too.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the kind words as well as giving the house a nick name. Just to clarify a little bit your comments. The washer and dryer are for the cleaners (we are on holding tanks it would fill up even faster if people could do their laundry). The firewood was collected and brought there because I had 7 boys staying with me and I had to keep them busy. I will try and keep the pile going for future renters but not positive I will be able to keep up. Please come back and stay with us again soon.

Everything you need to go full-on island.

  • 5 of 5

Low-key (late) mid-century rambler with great lake access and plenty of places to be together, and plenty of places to be apart. All instructions were clear, and Dave was very communicative and helpful. Would happily stay again.

beautiful spot, cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

Dave was great and responsive. He let my family come early as it was vacant the night before and he even brought over an iron so my girls dresses would look nice for an island wedding! We had plenty of space and the cabin has great spots to enjoy the island views no matter what the weather- the property setting itself was particularly beautiful. The cabin reminds me of visiting grandma's- which I enjoyed. The kitchen and furniture is slightly dated but completely functional and relaxing.

the pictures don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

i recently stayed at troll's knoll with 7 friends, and we absolutely loved it. the cabin itself is cozy and has a great '70s feel. the patio was the perfect place to spend time and look at the beautiful view of lake superior (we even saw two bald eagles). we also spent a lot of time on the dock (which was very private and beautiful), and ventured into la pointe one afternoon (tom's burned down cafe is a must-see). dave was super responsive and helpful throughout the process. 10/10 would stay again!

The best way to go off the grid !

  • 5 of 5

Hate to share too many good things or we will box ourselves from a great spot!

But.. we remain to be compelled satisfied with our Family vacation here... going off the grid , relying on nature to wake us up, campfires at any time of day. We were graced by a pair of bald eagles , a family of deer ( drive slowly done the drive in!) Mergansers and a small group of crows every am. A great spot and great host.

Cozy and relaxing cabin with beautiful views of the lake and woods.

  • 4 of 5

Dave was great to work with from beginning to end. He responds right away to all communications and was helpful while we were staying at his cabin. The cabin is set close to the lakeshore with a flight of stairs down to the large dock. You can see views of the lake and some islands from pretty much every room. It is quiet, cozy and relaxing.

The cabin was stocked with all the basics - kitchen ware, towels, toiletries, firewood... The towels were soft and master bed, although small, was very comfortable. The cabin is older and could use some basic updates and replacement and addition of a few items and an additional shelf in the kitchen would be useful (only reason for the 4 star vrs 5 star rating).

Overall, I would recommend Dave's cabin for the ease of scheduling and his flexibility, and becasue it is fairly close to town only 2.5 miles. It is a nice place to kick back and enjoy all that Madeline Island has to offer.
