This lovely cottage is nestled on the quiet and uncrowded East End of St. John in the Privateer Bay community. We invite couples seeking a private, natural, relaxing location with space to stretch out, small families looking for a safe and wild home base with easy private beach access, or two couples (or small group of friends) looking to share the fun and the cost (deals for 7 day stays or monthly). This 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom cottage (+ fun outdoor shower) has everything you need to get lost in your vacation away from any busy-ness. Long Bay Getaway has everything for you: a nicely stocked kitchen, air conditioned bedrooms, comfortable furnishings, a private pool, fast internet, lovely native plants, wildlife, and the unending peace you need. We even have an electric piano and acoustic guitar to learn or play music!

If you choose to leave this beautiful home and explore St. John, you are less than a half hour drive from the famous North side beaches including Trunk Bay, Maho Bay, Cinnamon Bay, and Hawksnest. Or you can stay and relax at one of the secret top beaches near us, including Hansen Bay. As a guest at Long Bay Getaway, you also have private access to the secluded beach at Long Bay which is 500 steps from our property. The snorkeling is superb and there are community kayaks or an SUP for your personal use.

There are wonderful island amenities near the property, including Sloop Jones' shop for one-of-a-kind clothing and art and the local East End people at Hansen Bay and nearby beaches. The East End is the "other side" of St. John - quiet, natural, private, incredible sunsets by the pool, and deep star gazing in the natural dark of this secluded area.

If you prefer natural peace and solitude, you will love this part of the island!!

Quiet get away
My family and I enjoyed our stay at St. John. Winding through roads with our Jeep was truly an adventure! Who needs rollercoasters (haha). Snorkeling, hiking, beach time, and enjoying nature was time well spent. After a day of these adventure, my children enjoyed pool time each evening and meals with a fabulous view!!! We didn't use the air conditioning because the house has such wonderful window ventilation that a cool breeze combined with ceiling fans made sleeping comfortable. With sounds of nature all around (mostly goats), our stay was fabulous.

Love Hansen Bay
Our second visit to the property was just as wonderful as our trip two years ago. It does take some driving on the winding roads to reach the East End, but we love getting away for a peaceful vacation. The house has a huge, wonderful porch, fully equipped kitchen, nice living room, bathrooms, comfortable beds, outdoor shower and a pool! We enjoy kayaking and snorkeling around Pelican Rock from the neighborhood beach.

Slice of Paradise
We absolutely loved our stay at Long Bay Getaway! It is a great location, away from it all yet close enough to Coral Bay to head there for dinner and the North Shore beaches or Salt Pond for the day. It was a fun drive to the place and we were glad to have a jeep. We loved the pool and enjoyed every evening swimming until the sun went down. It was a very comfortable temperature! The kitchen was well equipped and the grill worked for dinners. The bedrooms cooled down well with a combination of fans and ac and the beds were comfortable. We also really enjoyed snorkeling at Long Bay and spent some time there. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

Hi, Ken here to help you enjoy your stay! I am available to respond to your needs. We are a family of four with two grown boys and we're from Memphis, Tennessee. We also travel our fifth family member, Joy's brother Isaac. Three of us are musicians and we all love Memphis music - classic soul, blues, rock, and folk music. We're educators, social workers, servers, and event people, but on St. John, we're beachy and hikey and divey - we LOVE nature!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this home when we stayed here a few years ago and have made it our special place - quiet, secluded, adventurous, yet still easily accessible, our family loves Long Bay Getaway for the calming pool, amazing views, dark nights, nice grill, musical instruments, large decks, outdoor dining, and just sweeping views of greater Coral Bay.

What makes this property unique

Hanging on the side of the pool watching the sun set in the west mountains, dining on the deck as the sun rises across the mountain behind us, the jeep drive out to the East End complete with deer, donkeys, and goats (they make us laugh), all make Long Bay Getaway particularly relaxing - away from everything yet easy to just go into town too.

You will also enjoy meeting "Chippie" the Pearl-Eyed Thrasher who just wants a bite of your snack.
