Quaint, Rustic Cottage
My boyfriend and I wanted to visit Crater of Diamonds State Park and this was the perfect, affordable accommodation. The location is nestled between town and the park, with just a short drive or walk to either. The cottage was amply stocked with extra towels, blankets, linens, paper towels, and toilet paper. The owner was friendly and very easy to work with. I was a little concerned when I read another vacationer's review stating that the hot water was limited to only five minutes, but fortunately, that was not my experience. I was able to take a nice 10-15 minute long shower with plenty of hot water. My boyfriend and I staggered our showers 30 minutes apart and neither one of us was left in the cold. For the a rural getaway, I'd say that is more than sufficient.
In the end, this little cottage was everything we were hoping for in a weekend getaway. I highly recommend.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for being great renters!
This was the perfect little place to stay for our long back to school getaway. It was clean and included everything that we needed to have a great stay. There were plenty of clean towels and the Wi-Fi worked great too. We will be back for our next stay in Murfreesboro.
Super cute cottage SO close to the Crater of Diamonds!
Want to give 5 stars!
First impression: This cottage is so cute and just perfect for our family of four (kids ages 11 & 13) plus 1.5 dogs (a 55-lb dog and a 3.5-lb mini toy) for our 2-night stay.
With rustic raw wood shiplap and scant decor, it provides the essentials: Cold AC for the hot summer, couch, table & chairs, nice-sized shower, ample towels and kitchenware. Quirky side note: the gaps in the shiplap walls allow the light from the bathroom and sounds from the living room to pass through to the bedroom easily.
Perfect location: Literally 1 mile from the Crater of Diamonds, 1 mile from town, set back from the road with a large yard in a quiet area. The "main" house on the property is the "Kimberlite"; the other is the "Keeper's cottage."
Perfect transaction: Tim was helpful and quick with responses for info, including during our stay; the price was right (though for more room/a longer stay, we'd likely pay the scant difference more for the Kimberlite next time).
Why only 4 stars:
The queen bed: My 200-lb husband sank to the middle, leaving me (150 lbs) constantly in contact with him and sleeping on a slope.
More specific for families:
Livingroom: Would be nice to have 1 more comfortable sitting chair. 3 can sit on the couch, but the 4th gets only a hard-backed chair (or, with 3 out of 4 sleeping -1 on the couch- there's no comfy place to relax/read).
Kitchen: Would be nice to have 1 other option for cooking besides microwave and charcoal grill, like a portable countertop burner or a small crockpot.
Overall, the Finder's Cottage is charming and a lovely place to stay. Nice bonus for providing shaker/sifting boxes and shovels, thank you! A really great place!!!
Great place to get away.
It was a perfect getaway place. However it needs more regular extermination as we encountered ants that came after the trash and a huge spider in the sink. We had a hard time with the shower as the handle wasn’t attached very well. Small issues easily fixed.
Great location to stay when digging for diamonds.
Had a wonderful time digging for diamonds, but didn't get rich! We did, however, find arrow heads while digging at Kadoha Village. Cabin was centrally located between the two. If you are looking for an inexpensive, comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend this quaint little cabin.
We liked the cabin but we couldn't figure out where all the dead lady bugs kept coming from.
The cabin was comfortable and easy access. If we make a trip to the area again we would be sure to stay there.
