Overview

About the property

Oceanfront home close to Pearson College, Marinas, beaches and parks, 3 bedrooms

Metchosin House is a spacious 3 bedroom that sleeps up to 8 people. It is an oceanfront home on a large private lot with beach access.* Quiet, sunny, and south facing, this is the perfect environment to reconnect with the people you love. Enjoy panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Weirs Beach right out front offers a perfect place to walk. The observation deck above the beach is a perfect private spot for morning coffee or mid-day sun. Newly renovated inside with brand new furniture, the house will be a wonderful place to which to return after a day exploring the local attractions.

The property is close to marinas (Pedder Bay, Cheanuh, and Becher Bay), parks and natural attractions too numerous to give a complete list (Devonian, and Witty’s Lagoon, Albert Head Lagoon and beach). Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific is 2km away. Cultural attractions, such as artists’ studios, art shows at the Metchosin Community Hall, a Farmers’ market, and roadside fruit stands are available seasonally.

The Galloping Goose regional trail is an easy bike ride from the house, only 1.5 km on quiet roads. Why not ride out from Victoria or even Sydney. A car is not necessary!

*the path to the beach is not suitable for everyone as it has a steep section. There are other accessible beaches nearby.

Senior snowbirds should ask about a monthly winter season rate.

An amazing week's stay at an outstanding property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I absolutely loved staying in this house and wished that we could have stayed longer than just 1 week.

The property felt very much like home as it was so comfortable. It was very well equipped and we had everything that we needed.

The bed was very comfortable indeed and we had so much room with the two separate ensuite bathrooms as well as the dressing area.

The house is located in such an idyllic place. We did not need a TV as we spent so much time watching the local wildlife from the kitchen window.

We saw deer on a number of occasions in the neighbour's garden, less than 10 feet away from us. The squirrels provided a lot of entertainment as did the bird life. It was so amazing to watch the hummingbirds feeding. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and a blaze of colour.

The views from the back of the home over the ocean, including snow covered mountain peaks in the distance were absolutely fantastic. We managed to see some river otters with the help of the binoculars that the owner helpfully provided.

Communication with the property manager was excellent. Any enquiry was quickly responded to and we had everything that we needed to access the property upon arrival. The home was also spotlessly clean and prepared to a high standard for our stay.

It was our first visit to Canada and we are so glad that we stayed at the Metchosin house on Vancouver Island. We really do hope to return and stay here again in the future.

Fantastic place to stay

  • 5 of 5

A family of four, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beach front home. This is definitely a home-away-from-home place to stay. The kitchen was more equipped than I'd expected, with appliances such as mixer, blender, etc. The beds were very comfortable, and the house very spacious, and is probably the cleanest property we've ever stayed in. The view from the living room is amazing (the photos do not do it justice), and we loved the walk to the beach. A very charming and fantastic place to stay.

Spectacular home on the water

  • 5 of 5

This home is a real gem. It is about 20-30 minute drive from downtown Victoria but you will appreciate the quiet, the water views, the spaciousness of the home and property, and the fine, tasteful, first class decor. The master suite has two full baths! Sitting in the breakfast nook in the morning and watching the hummingbirds at the fuschia and the other critters at the fountain below was delightful. We also saw deer that boldly meandered through the neighbor's yard. The home is on a huge lot that goes down to the water where there is an elevated deck with seating and a table for observing the water close up. There is also a deck that extends the entire second floor of the house where you can sit and see the water, the huge vegetable garden, and the pond, arbor and garden seating area below. This is truly a gorgeous home and my family of 6 enjoyed every minute (4 nights). I'd love to come again and enjoy this quiet retreat for at least a week.
