About this property

Amazing Water Noise Next to the Cartecay River

Cartecay Rapids is located just 2 ½ miles (5 minute ride) from the put in point for kayaks, tubes and canoes. From there you can take a 2 to 3 hour ride (depending on how fast the river is flowing), passing several Class 1 and Class 2 rapids, including the fast moving S-turn and Class 3 Blackberry Falls. You can use the shuttle service of the Cartecay Experience or keep floating down the river until you reach our deck along the river. If you enjoy fishing, kayaking, canoeing or tubing, then this is what you’ve been looking for!

Cartecay Rapids is great for fishermen too! You can fish below the rapids on our property or pick another spot along the Cartecay. The Toccoa River is Blue Ridge is only 20 miles from the cabin, with great fly fishing near Shallowford Bridge.

With two large screen porches, you can open the doors and windows to hear the rapids along the river below the cabin. There are two comfortable king masters on the first and second floor that both have access to screen porch areas. In the loft upstairs, there is a trundle bed which serves as two twin beds when pulled out. Cartecay Rapids has all of the comforts of home including two full baths, a full size kitchen, electric oven, microwave, cabin tv, wi-fi, wood burning fireplace and the beautiful sound of the river below 24 hours a day!

Located just 4 short miles from downtown Ellijay, you’ll be just minutes away from antique shopping and dining in the quaint downtown area. The cabin is also just 15 minutes south of Blue Ridge, GA which includes shops, dining and the famous Blue Ridge Railway.

Beautiful and Relaxing
The cabin was amazing and relaxing at the same time. We went when it was cold and we still opened the door to enjoy the sound of the river. It was well stocked and cozy. We will definitely go back when it’s warmer!

After Christmas Stay
We had a wonderful stay. The only recommendations I have would be to add a few more bath towels and wash cloths. Otherwise, beautifully stocked and very comfortable. We loved seeing wild deer almost every time we walked outside and the water was breathtaking. We would 100% stay here again and again.

Apple picking get away
We enjoyed our stay. The location was not only secluded and beautiful, but very convenient to the activities we wanted to enjoy such as apple picking & winery visiting. Saw deer in woods each day! Brought along a portable crib for our baby, which worked out fine. Felt right at home and would consider staying here again.

40th Anniversary Getaway
Everything was really nice and just exactly as stated in the ad. No issues getting to the house or while there. The river is beautiful from the deck and sounds awesome. I love that the deck was screened in, no worries about mosquitoes or gnats. We sat out there under the fan in the middle of the day and it was very pleasant and relaxing. The king bed in the downstairs was very comfortable. I don’t know about upstairs as we never went up there. Loved the hot tub, but would suggest some kind of lighting down there. The lights in the hot tub didn’t work or we just couldn’t figure out how to turn them on. So maybe post some instructions on the use of the hot tub. It was a short and easy drive into downtown. We enjoyed going there to eat our meals instead of cooking. However, the kitchen looked to be fully stocked. A couple suggestions on where to eat: River Street Tavern - a tavern atmosphere with good food choices, Mike’s Ellijay Restaurant - country cooking, great for breakfast, and The Butcher and Bottle was a little dressier and pricey, but the food was great! The only drawback to us this weekend was that there were neighbors really close by, so if you’re looking for a secluded cabin, I’d go somewhere else. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get away and relax for a few days.
