Why Yonder chose Swannanoa

We love so many things about this house and its location and hope you will too! It is secluded and feels like a tree house in the country, but it’s just 15 minutes or less from the Blue Ridge Parkway, downtown Asheville, and Black Mountain. The large, open living room, dining room and kitchen makes the house a wonderful spot for gathering with family or friends. Our favorite thing about the house is the outdoor space. Sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch looking out at the mountains and trees and enjoying the sounds of nature is the ultimate in relaxation. We love being able to experience all 4 seasons in Asheville, and we hope that you will have an opportunity to experience different seasons there.

What makes this house unique

This house is a warm, open family style retreat that has enough space indoors and outdoors to allow privacy for individuals, couples, or separate families vacationing together. Located in a quiet neighborhood, the property provides privacy but is only a short drive to all the great activities and tourist attractions such as hiking, restaurants, breweries, the Biltmore, cultural activities, and shopping. The wood-burning fireplace and cedar ceiling in the living room provide a cozy mountain atmosphere, and the living room has two sets of glass doors that open to the large front porch which allows you to feel like you are outside even when you’re inside.

Relaxing weekend in the mountains!

  • 5 of 5

We were excited to get away with family and friends for a long Labor Day weekend, and this was the perfect spot! Upon driving up to the house, we were struck by its expansive rocking chair porches and gorgeous natural environment. Inside, the house was spacious, extremely clean, well-equipped, and overall very comfortable for our 2 families. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING--from board games and Pop-A-Shot (which was my husband's obsession for the weekend!) to clean, high quality linens and bedding. We stayed downstairs, where it was so peaceful--at night, our favorite part was to open up the windows and fall asleep to the sounds of the mountains at night. During the day, we loved having a cup of coffee or cold beer on the screened porch and just enjoying the breeze and company!

The surrounding area is perfect for exploring. On Saturday, we took the kids to the Western NC Nature Center--what a hidden gem! So many animals, trails, and educational activities--the toddlers LOVED it, we spent several hours there and had a picnic lunch on site. After nap time, we went over to Highland Brewery for beer tasting and live music on the lawn, which was a terrific way for the whole family to unwind after a busy day. The "meadows" at Highland have plenty of room for kids to romp and explore in a safe area. On Sunday, we checked out the super cute town of Black Mountain, which is only 10-15 minutes away. We walked around the downtown area, shopped, bought a few early Christmas presents, explored the old train, and then had lunch at a little deli/grille with outdoor seating (a necessity for little kids, in my opinion!) Great day...

When we weren't out exploring, we were enjoying down-time at the house. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for Labor Day weekend... Highly recommend Blue Ridge Retreat! We will definitely be back!

Amazing weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I here stayed with a group for a bachelorette party and it was fantastic! The perfect size for our group to relax for a weekend getaway! The location was convenient and not too far from everywhere we wanted to go. Yonder was also great at communicating with me when I had questions about an early check in and they were great to work with! Highly recommend staying here if you’re going to Asheville with family or a medium size group of friends!

Perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of 12 and it was a great stay! We even had snow this weekend which made it more magical! Only about 20 minutes to downtown Asheville- so we were able to go to breweries a whole day we stayed. Lots of games: corn hole, basketball, ping pong, and even board games! Definitely will come back!

Beautiful and comfortable home away from home!!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing get away in the Asheville area! This home is beautifully decorated and has absolutely everything our family needed. No detail left out. Owners have local decor throughout and plenty of room for all ages. Grounds are a nature lovers dream from a screened in porch with a walking path and a front porch with rocking chairs to the view of the mountains. Very clean and very comfortable!!

Great setting for a family get-away

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Ridge Retreat was a wonderful setting for all my children and grandchildren to join me for a long week-end. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep, the kitchen and eating area were fabulous (we fixed our own breakfasts plus dinners cooked on the gas grill), and the entertainment options were over the top. Competition in arcade basketball, ping pong, and cornhole was enjoyed by all ages. This place is a winner!!
