Fire Safety Instructions:
If you plan to make a fire you MUST follow these instructions:
1 Before starting a fire make sure the area of the pot belly stove is clear. Do not keep anything flammable or place anything flammable near the stove.
2 Before starting the fire open the Flu. The flu is a handle that you turn which is located on the pipe extending from the stove to the ceiling. When it is turned correctly the handle will be vertical. If you start a fire without this open correctly the house will fill with smoke.
3 Do not start a fire using lighter fluid or any flammable liquid. Start the fire with paper or cardboard and then move to small wood pieces first. Or if using a fire starter log follow fire starter log instructions.
4 While the fire is going keep the door closed so that if the fire pops coals do not leave the oven.
5 Fire Break Down:
6 Before leaving the cabin Shovel any remaining hot coals into the hot coal bucket. Use the hot pads to pull out the coal catch tray under neath the oven area. Empty these into the bucket and take to the fire pit.
7 Once all coals are removed close the flu. The handle will be then turned horizontal.
Thank you for following the house rules!
