Our 1894, 3,600 sq. feet, three-story brick row home, located at one of Washington, D.C.'s most prestigious and gracious addresses at 8th and East Capitol NE, has been extensively remodeled to offer the best in luxury and comfort. The house has a fabulous gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, center island, Subzero refrigerator, two Thermador ovens, microwave, dishwasher, wine cooler, ice machine, and bar sink. Residents may eat in the kitchen on bar stools at the counter or at a separate, round dining table and chairs.
French doors in the kitchen lead to a large deck (with table and four chairs and gas grill) in the enclosed backyard, which also has a private driveway (with industrial steel door operated by remote control) and room for one vehicle, and a small garden.
The house has a total of four bedrooms (one is currently set up as a library, with a leather sofa that doubles as an extremely comfortable queen platform bed.) The master bedroom, with king-size bed, also has a gas marble fireplace. (Fireplaces in the formal dining and living rooms are not in operation.) Master bedroom has two closets: an enormous walk-in closet with extensive shelving, built-ins, a microwave and refrigerator, and a second closet, also with extensive shelving. Owner has aerobeds if needed for families over 8 people.
The house has four bathrooms: two full and two half. The enormous marble master bathroom has a Jacuzzi and frameless shower, as well as his and hers vanities, gold faucets, and a gas fireplace. The third floor bathroom, also finished in marble, has a whirlpool tub and frameless glass shower. There are half baths on the main floor and on the second floor.
The house is furnished extremely comfortably with a combination of traditional American mahogany antique reproductions and original antiques and oriental rugs. The house has high ceilings, stained glass windows in the kitchen, master bath/second floor hall, and third-floor landing. All wood floors are original. Marble touches and extensive recessed lighting throughout the house add elegance and an overall traditional look.
The house, with enclosed front garden, has a direct view of the Capitol Building. We are also near the Supreme Ct, The Mall, Eastern Market, metro, great restaurants, and a five-minute cab drive from Union Station.
The third floor has extensive closets with built ins, and a separate third-floor hall closet is outfitted with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The third floor bedroom, with queen-size bed, also has a table and chairs for guest dining.
The house has a total of five tvs but we do not have cable. We do, however, have and extensive collection of films and documentaries, which guests are welcome to watch. High speed Internet is unlimited.
Capitol Hill is the best location for visiting DC because it's close to sites, transportation hubs, government offices, restaurants, and yet is like its own intimate village. Our neighborhood is very kid and doggie friendly. The Eastern Market metro is a few minute walk from our home and is on the Orange and Blue lines, the same lines that take riders to the Mall, museums, etc., so no change of metro lines is even required to most sites one would want to visit.

Renters must be non-smokers. If renters entertain, no smoking is allowed in the house or anywhere on the property.
The neighborhood is quiet and row houses are built directly adjacent to neighbors on both sides. We have wonderful neighbors and want to respect their quiet; therefore, please do not play loud music inside and particularly outside on the property.
Dogs may be considered. No cats.
