Why Patti Repetto chose Tellico Plains

An avid Harley enthusiast, I came to love this area while visiting friends (also motorcyclists) who bought a home in neighboring Coker Creek. It only took me one visit to this area of TN to know that I wanted to spend more time here exploring all that the area has to offer and the endless beauty of TN and close by NC and GA. While I am years away from being able to enjoy this special place full time, I want others to have the ability to enjoy this amazing part of our country - I guarantee if you come to visit once, it won't be your last time!

What makes this cabin unique

Authentic log cabin, mountain views, total privacy, paved driveway, fire pit, gourmet kitchen, luxurious linens

Great view, location and cabin...very clean and everything worked!

  • 5 of 5

Clean, everything worked, very comfortable! I booked a cycle trip for 6 guys & we used all the beds incl the pull out which I was advised was very comfortable. We also had another group camping nearby so they came by, shared chili, watched a movie and hung out on deck a bit...plenty of room for all of us. Cabin is in excellent condition, has all the basic items needed and everything worked flawlessly.

Some things worth knowing:

- Long, winding driveway is beautiful and private. But we had a full size truck towing a 22' box trailer. We are experienced towers but had we been novices, we may not have been able to maneuver the driveway and got into a pickle...walk it before attempt it if you are towing trailer.

- Awesome wind chime on deck according to me. Not so much according to the other 5 guys who took it down.

- Owner communicates well, but the shed is off limits so we had to cable bikes for security. It's a non-issue as the place is very secure and remote. Also, for some reason, a police officer came through at night. I presume they saw lights on the mountain top and were checking things out as they just pulled in, turned around and left.

As for VRBO...this was my first time as I mostly use AirBNB. My learnings were:

- I had to pay 3% to use credit card...I understand why, but it was still a surprise and since I booked it for my buddies, I got stuck with the $50 fee.

- I had to pay a $500 security deposit for cabin damage. I completely understood and agreed to this. BUT, when I went to check out, VRBO required an additional $3500 charge on my credit card in case owner reported damages. This $3500 would also be refunded if no damages were found, BUT, that was up to the owner. I was not comfortable giving $3,500 (really $4,000) to someone and trusting I would get it back. In lieu of this, I could pay $79 for $3,500 worth of non-refundable damage insurance. Since I had agreed to rent the place for my buddies and we all split the rental rate, I got stuck with the surprise $79 charge. More bothersome to me, was why pay $500 damage fee to owner and then purchase $3500 damage insurance from VRBO for $79? If we lost a $100 remote, the owner was taking it from my $500 deposit so what benefit do I get from the insurance. Just seems like buying insurance was forced upon me by VRBO.

In the end, owner was fine & refunded my deposit less the 3% credit card & nothing was damaged.

Little Cabin in the Mountains...Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a 3 wonderful Fall days in this beautiful cabin. LOVED...the big wrap-around porch, the fire pit, the cozy fireplace, the mountain views, the kitchen ( had everything you could want/need). The cabin was beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The owner, Patti, responded promptly to all of our questions. The only suggestion I have is the same one I have for most rentals...need more reading light in the bedroom and living room. I have started bringing my own when I travel!

We loved driving the Cherohala Skyway and the Tail of the Dragon. Bald River Falls was amazing! A perfect Fall get-away!

Pine Ridge is exactly what we wanted!.. Wonderfully situated up high with panorama views and

close to the sweet little town of Tellico Plains... We rented a year in advance, for the 2017 solar eclipse!, but would definitely return to this gem of an area. PineRidge is fully equipped, laid out nicely, and in excellent condition! The Cherhola Skyway running along the Tellico River is film worthy!... and any avid biker, kayaker and nature seeker would be quite happy here...

thanks so much Patti!!
