Our adorable, bright house was newly renovated two years ago with the best appliances, a viking stove and double oven, Le Creuset cookware and Saarinen tables. Downstairs is a kitchen, dining and library in an open plan set up and upstairs are three bedrooms with two baths. The master bedroom has a fireplace and a private bath. The house was designed by Elizabeth Roberts one of NYC's top architects and interiors experts. And here she created a sunny, happy spot that will be the perfect place for your New York vacation.
Red Hook's geographical closeness to Manhattan, is offset by the lazy, laid-back vibe of the small-town community. The neighborhood offers local restaurants (no chains!) and a very friendly community. You can have your choice of jaunts to the city (only a ferry ride away) or stay local and enjoy intimate dining, drinking and shopping spots, where you'll most likely be ordering or buying from the owner. It's just a short walk to the water in two directions with more parks per capita than any other neighborhood in NYC. Wake up and walk down the block to Martha Stewart's favorite bakery, Baked, and get fresh made pastries and cappucinos.
Walk back a few blocks and you can take the Ferry to downtown Manhattan. One of the city's best groceries, Fairway, is also a short walk--go there and barbecue their amazing dry-aged steaks on our large back deck.
Or take a picnic to Valentino Pier and lay a blanket out on the grass facing the water and watch the sun go down over the Statue of Liberty. You won't believe Manhattan is just a short ride away.
