Welcome to Maui Sands unit 1J. A spacious 1000 sq. ft. 2 bed 2 full bath highly upgraded unit located on a direct ocean front property. Maui Sands is a Direct Ocean Front property facing the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Swim, snorkel, surf, kayak right from our property! No need to pack the car and drive anywhere! Amazing sunsets every night!

Maui Sands Unit 1J (Watch the video!)
We truly believe we have the nicest unit in the entire complex and the ONLY unit at Maui Sands with 2 full bathrooms and central air conditioning. Most other units have the older window ac units or none at all. Our unit can accommodate up to 6 guests but we only have 3 mattresses and one is in the pull out sofa sleeper. In our master and 2nd bedrooms we have queen mattresses and we have a queen sized pull out sofa sleeper. We also have 2 full bathrooms with customized showers.

Our Private Lanai:
Our lanai is where you'll spend most of your time sipping cocktails and having great conversations. With seating for 6, it's very comfortable and you'll be able to watch your other guests or your kids play at the pool below during the day and star gaze at night.

Unit 1J Location:
2nd floor (top) and overlooks the pool and garden area of the property in building 1. Although our property is on the ocean, this unit does not have much of an ocean view. More like a "peek - a - boo" small ocean view between the palm trees. However, you can still hear the ocean waves during a swell and it's only a one-minute walk past the pool to our ocean entrance area.

Maui Sands Property Location:
- Direct Ocean Front Property facing the islands of Lanai and Molokai.
- Just 5 minutes from Kaanapali and 10 to Lahaina town
- Very end of North Kaanapali Beach in between Papakea resort and Paki Maui.
- Walk to Kaanapali, black rock or Dukes Restaurant ON THE BEACH.
- Very quiet and peaceful.
- Large grass areas, large pool (non heated, but no need!) and 2 bib areas

Maui Sands Property features:
- Large pool area with BBQ grills, ice machine, picnic tables and soda machine.
- Direct Ocean Front Property!
- Swim, swim and swim some more!
- View turtles, octopus, monk seals, baby lobsters, puffer fish and all kinds of marine animals.
- Baby beach area during low tide! (Only a foot deep during low tide)
- Buy the kids small nets and they’ll spend hours trying to catch the small fish
- No need to pack up the car and drive to go snorkel, swim, surf or kayak.
- Snorkel and enjoy our two reefs right in front of our property
- Collect seashells
- Last property you can actually walk ON THE BEACH to Kaanapali and black rock
- Enjoy beautiful sunset walks starting next door at Papakea

Beach Walk:
Walk for miles to Kaanapali ON THE BEACH starting next door at Papakea! Walk to Dukes Restaurant, Black Rock or Whalers Village.
No property north of us can you walk on a beach more than 5 minutes? Depending on high or low tide, you may have to step in the ocean and walk to the next property, Papakea to start you beach walk. If you don’t want to walk on the sand, when you reach Kaanapali Shores, you can walk on the walking path to black rock or all the way to whaler’s village in Kaanapali.

Our Beach:
Since we are at the very end of a super long beach (North Kaanapali Beach), the sand moves up and down the beach a lot. It comes and goes depending on storms, tides and the currents but typically during the summer months we have more sand out front. If you have to layout on the sand during these times, feel free to walk to the ocean front park just on the other side of Paki Maui. They have a large beach area with sand all year around. And no, we cannot predict when we will have a large sand area in from of Maui Sands. The sand moves up and down the coast a lot!

Decently renovated suite only 15 min to Lahaina's Front Street, 2 min walk to Honokōwai Beach.
Great for the price. It’s been renovated semi recently & is a good jumping off point for NW Maui. The complex is dated when you first pull up, but this unit is a pleasant surprise inside. The good: Spacious, sleeps 6 easily, suitable stocked for cooking & relaxing. The unit has great air conditioning. Cool & Quiet! Not the standard crappy window units that so many places have. Only a 15 min. drive to the Lahaina Harbor. ABC Deli & "The Fish Market" are very close by & have good food. The parking spot in the lot is close to the staircase to the unit (it’s on the second floor for those with mobility issues). A short walk away is Honokōwai Beach Park which is nice, but if the wind is up (as it is in winter), the waves break rather close to shore with a strong current to the north. Several people were out trying to snorkel in the waves, but didn't last more than a few min. The owner sends loads of documents explaining the sights, recommendations & words of warnings for the area. This can be helpful to those new to the island. The garden view from the lanai is nice & the birds are pleasant to listen to. It's not an ocean view suite nor does it claim to be. The bad: The bed rooms are VERY close to lower Honoapiilani Road! Motor bikes like to race up and down it at 3 am. The glass shutter windows offer no help against the noise. The owner has provided white noise machines to help combat this, although they didn't really help. Perhaps some heavy blinds would. Several of the dishes & cutlery were chipped & have sharp edges. Parents need to check things over before children use them. The beach here is about 8ft x 30ft. Its rocky & boarded by a sea wall. It would be great for snorkeling in the calm of the day just not much area to bask in the sun. I question what the cleaners are doing for their hefty fee when you have to do a lot of work for them. It’s a bad enough feeling to have to pack up & head home; it’s another thing to have to clean your rental before you go. Expect to have to strip all the linens from the beds, gather all the towels, wash the dishes, ensure no sand is in the unit, etc, etc. I’m sure this has come from misuse, but it leaves a bitter taste that you have to clean up before the paid cleaners do their part. Also, don't forget to turn off all the lights, fans, close the windows & turn off the AC otherwise that's another extra charge. Would stay again but bring sleeping pills & watch out for the extras.

Good location, lovely property
Condo is updated, with new bathroom remodels and new appliances. Includes adequate dishes, pots and pans for basic cooking. No water toys or beach chairs come with this unit, few left-over cooking ingredients, so bring your own or rent them. This unit’s bedrooms face the road, and owner has considerately provided white noise machines if needed. Property is pretty and well cared for, with a nice pool. Not particularly little kid friendly though — pool has no steps or shallow part for little ones; beach is a narrow strip of sand and rocks that is a HUGE step down from property and there is not room to set up beach chairs — water often right up to steps. BUT the water is crystal clear and there is good snorkeling between the two reefs right out front.

Very Comfortable!
Big mahalo goes out to Hawaii for the lovely stay! What went right: very nice/kind property manager, beautiful ocean access, walking distance to park, bigger beach area (Honopiilani Beach), grocery store, moped rental, amazing cinnamon rolls, laundry room in complex, coffee shop. We had a great unit! We overheard other vacationers comment that they didn’t have good A/C and were too hot/miserable. Not so with us. We used the A/C sparingly customized by room and were VERY comfortable sleeping. Bathrooms, beds, kitchen, lanai - all perfect! What could be improved: maybe small shampoo/ conditioner? It’s a average rating for lux—- no “extras” that make you feel spoiled. The snorkeling near the unit was not good- but we visited just after a storm and the waves were pretty energetic even after the murk settled. So that’s could have just been our luck of the draw. We would recommend this lovely place for the family who is more interested in quality family time more than a “spoiled spa” experience.

Why they chose this property

We stayed here on vacation 10 years ago and fell in love with the neighbors and how quiet the property was directly on the ocean. Every night we go down to the ocean deck and meet other owner and renters and sip on our cocktail. It's old school Hawaii where the plants on the property are now trees! You'll love the interior of this property! Very spread out and spacious units. Like how it used to be in Hawaii

What makes this property unique

Snorkeling right in front of our property! Many days we don't even leave the property. My husbands snorkels for a few hours and ill read and watch. Then I'll lounge at the pool while he chit chats with everyone around the pool area. We also love the central location. If we want to go to dinner in Lahaina and walk around, it's only 5-10 minutes away. If we want to enjoy the best beach in the entire world...we drive 2 minutes to Kaanapali Beach. If we want to swim with dolphins we head up 5 minutes north to Kapalua Bay.
