Awesome place tons of space
Had a great time beautiful cottage and property plenty of room
Not Bad :)
I went there about three weeks ago (October 19-21)and enjoyed my stay with my friends. We all enjoyed the place and had a great time but just a few things I thought of addressing and heads up to people going there.
The rating could have gone from a 4 star to a 5 star if a couple of things could have been fixed such as
- Upkeep of the house can be better.
- We were not told about a "pass" you need to have with regard to disposing garbage at the Landfill.
- It would have been nice if you could provide atleast handwash or soap.
- There was no gas in the propane tank when we went there to do BBQ. I did speak to Lindsay and she said she would reimburse us for filling it up but it is a hassle to fill when you don`t know in advance and about to cook.
I must mention that Lindsay is great as a host and keeping in touch.
Thank you for hosting us all.
Beautiful setting on Maple lake
Our two families spent our 2nd Thanksgiving here. We love the area and the cottage is perfect to accomodate all of us comfortably.
The place does need a bit of sprucing up but overall we really enjoyed our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was awesome. The cottage is very large. We were seven and had more than enough room. It was cool so we did not get to take advantage of the many outdoor facilities. Some small negatives were many windows had either no screens or they were damaged so we were not able to open several windows especially in the bedrooms.
Not a negative but something you should know, there are many stairs so loading and unloading can be difficult for some.
I would recommend this location. Make sure you bring lots of water as the water is very hard and you can't drink it.
So glad you had a great time at our property. Next on our list is to repair window screens etc. As for the water it is drinkable as there is a height end water softener and is tested regularly.
Large cottage, waterfront lacking
While I will acknowledge the fact that the week we were at the cottage, the water level was very low, however if you are a person who enjoys being in the water often at the cottage, the water entry area and shoreline are disappointing in my opinion. Cottage is very large but needs some upkeep.
All Decked Out!
Perfect cottage get-away for a group with lots of comfortable and private spaces to sleep. Many activities to suit everyone's interests from canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, ping pong, air hockey, big projector screen for movies, games, a fire pit to many places to relax/chill...on the large deck, at the dock by the water, in the comfy living room, etc. out group had an amazing time and will most definitely return! Thanks for this gem.
There is SO much to see and do in the Haliburton Highlands. Enjoy a stroll along Main street and pop into the charming boutiques that downtown Haliburton is famous for. Or for the more adventurous go for a "Walk in the Clouds" or visit the Wolf Centre located at Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. In the winter go for a snowmobile ride on their groomed and man-made snow replenished trails. (www.haliburtonforest.com)
Minden is also locatated only 20 minutes from the cottage. Like Haliburton, Minden is a quaint charming town, located along the Gull River, with plenty of boutiques and shops to explore. Be sure to check out the Artisan Market opened every Saturday in the summer. Minden is also host to the white water Canoe/Kayak Slalom event during the TORONTO PAN AM Games Summer 2015. Another adorable town to visit during your stay is Dorset. Home to Robinson's General Store, voted Canada's Best Country Store. It is about a 30 minute drive to Dorset. You MUST stop in and get a frozen yogurt treat across the street at Northern D'Lites as well! Check out the Dorset lookout tower which is 142 m (465 ft) above Lake of Bays. If you make to the top the view is breathtaking!
For the fisherman out there, Maple Lake is known to be one of the best fishing lakes in Haliburton Highlands!
Winter in Haliburton is just as exciting. Sir Sams Ski and Mountain Bike Resort is only 20 minutes away offering family fun for all. (http://sirsams.com/) The cottage is directly on the Haliburton County Snowmobile Trails. (http://www.hcsa.ca)
There is so much to do and see in the area, or if you're like me you can just head down to the dock with a good book and a glass of wine and enjoy the peaceful views of Maple Lake!
