About Charlie and Dianne Gluskoter

Dianne and Charlie have lived in the foothills of the coast range, 15 miles west of McMinnville since 1980. We built our home and a pottery studio here on a five acre site overlooking the Willamette Valley. Charlie has been a studio potter for forty years. Dianne has also spent time working in the arts, first as a director of one of the local art galleries, then as a director of gallery sales in Portland.

In addition to this we have spent the last 25 years purchasing and fixing up older classic homes. Charlie did the structural work while Dianne helped with the organization, and planning.

We have retired from the building trades, but still keep an active hand in our pottery and knitting interests. Living out in the country has trained us to be do- it- yourselfers. Dianne has raised chickens for eggs, sheep for wool, and tends a garden for vegetables. I harvest wood for heat from our 25 acre tree farm. I spend a lot of time doing maintenance on our houses. I also enjoy wood working and like to try my hand at making furniture when needed.

We both enjoy the outdoor opportunities this area has to offer. We love to kayak on coastal rivers, and mountain lakes. We enjoy camping and hiking in the cascades, and at the coast. We also like to take time out for the great bicycle rides available here. There are many lightly traveled roads, with just enough hills to keep them interesting. You can't ride far without passing several wineries. The tasting opportunities are plentiful.

We have raised two children who are almost out of the nest.

Why Charlie and Dianne Gluskoter chose McMinnville

Coming from the country we really liked the natural woody environment this property provides. What is really great is that it is so close to downtown McMinnville's 3rd street business district. A short walk away are nearly 25 restaurants, brew pubs, live theatre, and fine wine tasting rooms. In addition to this the public pool and library are just as close. But when you get back and come through the entrance you feel like you have just stepped into a very cozy mountain lodge. Out in back a creek winds across a meadow dotted with ash trees. On the high ground towering fir trees surround the house. Birds are plentiful, and deer are often seen.

What makes this lodge unique

This is a rare property to find so close in to a business district. At nearly two acres it is unseen from the road and is very private and quiet. The large scale trees, oaks, firs, and ash, lend to the peaceful nature of this home. A full bank of floor to ceiling windows looks out onto the creek and woods, bringing the outside inside. The inside walls of the house are paneled with beautiful cedar siding. The east end of the house is dominated by a huge rock fireplace, which further enhances the lodge style. The main room has a beautiful hickory floor which extends into the kitchen.

Three of the four bedrooms are downstairs. Each one has its own set of french doors, and they have the same beautiful view as the main room upstairs. Each bedrooms has its own bathroom. The fourth bedroom is at the other end of the house. while it is attached to the main space, it feels like a separate cabin in the woods. It has cedar walls, cathedral ceiling, large windows, with a view of the creek and woods. It has a separate sleeping nook with a twin bed, in addition to the queen size bed in the main room. There is also a separate kitchenette and a private entrance.

The kitchen is large and airy, and has the capacity to serve a large group. The hickory cabinets and floor lend the kitchen a warm homey feel.

Our family and friends stayed in this beautiful, spacious home to attend a wedding and it was just the perfect place for all of us to be together. The large greatroom and dining area was perfect for all of us to be together while the rooms allowed for privacy for each family. So comfortable, very convenient, & so close to the adorable downtown McMinnville!

GREAT MEMORIES WERE CREATED HERE!!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful accommodations. We had 10 adults and 2 children so we filled this beautiful home to the max. With so many in the house, we were amazed at how the separation of bedrooms from living area made each of us feel as though we had our own individual private space, yet we were able to come together in the great room for card games and laughter.

No TV, No problem. We enjoyed our time without it. The back view was amazing with lime green moss covered trees, and the deer walking right up to the bedrooms to peek in at us. It was a relaxing and enchanting way to ring in 2018. Will rent again from Dianne and Charlie, who made this rental experience a breeze. Thanks to both of them for sharing. J.S.

Outstanding location for family Thanksgiving Reunion.

  • 4 of 5

This home exceeded my expectations. There was plenty of room for all of us and the dining table was just the perfect size. We prepared our Thanksgiving meal without any problems. The kitchen lacked baking accessories that would have eased our pie and bread making but we managed with what we had. That is the only reason that I gave the home four stars instead of five. It is an easy walk into town and a the long driveway accommodated several cars. Don't hesitate to schedule your stay!

We had a great time, the house and amenities were just as advertised!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the views along with the large living space for all of us to gather. The extra long table worked out great for the 10 of us and even more would have fit. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and decorated nicely.

This house is located in the heart of Yamhill County's wine country, where over 80 wineries and 200 vineyards represent the largest concentration of wine growers and producers in any county in Oregon.

Within a half a mile is McMinnville's Historic Third Street, where you can find 12 wine tasting rooms, and over 20 restaurants. In addition, there are many interesting shops, galleries, and Gallery Theater.

Linfield College is located within two miles, where there are many concerts and lectures. Linfield also hosts the International Pinot Noir Festival in July.

Other events are SIP, Wine and Food Classic in March, UFO Festival, and Turkey Rama Festival in July,

Starting just a short distance from the house, there are many low traffic scenic bicycle routes, that go by wineries and vineyards. Our favorite ride travels through Muddy Valley, past rolling hills, vineyards, orchards, a llama farm, and ends at the Lawrence Gallery.

For those of you interested in the aeronautical world, you won't want to miss the Evergreen Air and Space Museum.
