It is situated in the village of Les Masses walking distance from the ski lifts, tennis courts, shop and restaurant.The larger village Les Collons is under 3km with shops, restaurants, pubs, ski rental shop, ski school, bank, post office. Indoor swimming pool and kindergarten (from 18 months on) at Thyon 2000, ~7,5 km. The village of Hérémence is ~5 minutes away by car, which also has bars, bank, supermarket and post office. The small historical village of Vex has an excellent butcher shop and similar facilities as well as a pharmacy, which is ~10 mins away by car.
Chalet Ourson Blanc is situated only 300m from the high speed Les Masses chairlift which takes you up into the middle of the Les Collons/Thyon ski bowl and the whole of the 4 Vallies ski region. The 4 Vallies is one of the largest most respected ski regions in Europe offering over 400km pistes and catering for all ski abilities. The wide open sunny slopes above Les Collons are ideal for beginners. The giant tepee next to the kid’s village is a good meeting point for chocolate chaud or vin chaud. For the expert skier, there are many challenging runs- both on piste and off down from Mount Rouge and Grepon Blanc. The world class Piste de L’Ours in Veysonnaz is part of the World Cup Circuit .The resort is high ranging from 1,500m to over 3000m with many snow cannons insuring snow at lower levels. You can ski back to the bottom of the Les Masses chair throughout most of the season.
There is lots to do in Summer in the Valais, the sunniest region of Switzerland. Les Masses is part of a vast hiking and mountain biking area but you can also enjoy more leisurely level walks along the "Bisses" (historic irrigation channel) and the panoramic mountain restaurants. The beautiful regional capital Sion (oldest town in Switzerland) is 18km away at the bottom of the mountain where one can go shopping, swim in the lake or spend an evening in one of its many cafes and restaurants. You can also venture to one of the largest dams in Europe or visit underground lake St-Léonard, accessed by boat. To relax there is the fantastic spar at Saillon, including outdoor hot tubs, water massage systems and a great lazy river with a water cave and bubbling beds.
