The open space is located on the ground floor of a building dating back to the 1200s which was formerly a convent of Spanish nuns, which later became a country villa of the Mansi family from Lucca. It has come to our family who now take care of it with love. In 1997 it was renovated giving a new life to the internal and external building. The house is located on a hill called "Il Colletto" and overlooks the village of Ponte a Moriano along the Serchio river.
By parking the car in front of the gate, it is possible to enter the garden of the house which offers a breathtaking view of the plain of Ponte a Moriano and which opens up to the hills of Lucca. The convent is located on the hill of S Stefano di Moriano called "Il Colletto" and which runs along the Serchio river. River that crosses the city of Lucca and then flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Nature is luxuriant and the garden offers fruits and flowers including lavender, almond, pomegranate, apple, orange,…
It is possible to enter the house through two entrances: one from the garden and the other comfortably from the street which allows you to unload luggage or other bulkier things.
The apartment is a large open space living room which includes a living room (with a double sofa bed, TV), a bedroom with a double bed and another single bed on request, a bathroom with shower, a utility room, a dining room and a large kitchen. All of course in rustic Tuscan style.
The house is not isolated but is located in a small hamlet of other historic houses and villas, but maintains its independence.
The convent can be reached by car and is located 800 meters from the village of Ponte a Moriano where you can find shops, a pharmacy, a bank, a post office, restaurants and railway and bus transport lines.
The location of the house is strategic because it is located 8 km from the city of Lucca, 37 km from Pisa and Viareggio, 81 km from Florence, and about 20 km from Garfagnana with its beautiful Apuan Alps.
The apartment is located in an ancient convent building where there are 3 other apartments, one of which is inhabited by the landlords. The house is not isolated, but is located in a cluster of other historic houses and villas. We share the garden with Julie and John who own the other half of the convent. The relationship with the neighborhood is excellent and discreet. The best way to live surrounded by nature without feeling completely isolated and alone.
We are in the hamlet of S. Stefano di Moriano, along a dead-end road, so the road that leads to the convent is not very busy. The house is surrounded by nature and it is possible to leave the house on foot for beautiful walks.
The hill allows a view of the town of Ponte a Moriano and the various towns around Lucca.
We live in a very special place. We are close to the most famous Italian cities of art, we are in the Tuscan countryside and we are close to the sea and the mountains. Special events are organized in our area: Lucca Comics and Games, Puccini and his music, excursions on the Apuan Alps and in the caves, the Via Francigena passes through here, there are the best wines from all over the world, the most relaxing Spas, we are close at the Orecchiella National Park, there is the most famous opera festival in the world dedicated to Puccini, you can meet famous directors at the Lucca Film Festival, in July you can listen to the best live music at the Lucca Summer Festival, and more.
The "Il Convento" apartment is a historic building and the area is protected by the fine arts for which maximum seriousness is required in the use of objects and premises.
Also try not to use a high tone of voice after midnight.
The good rule of the house is to leave the house clean, especially the kitchen and bathrooms, before leaving.
