Fantastic weekend
I stayed with my young family for the Easter weekend. This flat was fantastic for us and had lots of space and is centrally located. It was clean and tidy. Would definitely book again. Thanks

Great location, fully equipped, well presented and great communication with the owner.
Definitely will stay again, perfect for visiting the area for whatever reason, mine was rugby, two minutes walk to the grounds👍 I had a short weekend stay but would be equally as comfortable for any length of time.

At the heart of Melrose
Cosy and comfortable flat and extremely well located with easy access to shops and restaurants. It was an ideal base for us as we visited relatives in the area over the Christmas period. Lots to see and do in Melrose and beyond.

Ideal Location
Lovely little flat in the centre of Melrose. Convenient for visiting a wide range of local attractions, and close enough to Tweedbank station for trips to Edinburgh. Plenty of places to eat, and a supermarket nearby, to stock up on essentials.

About the host

We have recently purchased this property from Sheila Pearson, who previously rented out this property on Ownersdirect. I live in the Village of Stichill (which is around 25 miles from Melrose) with my wife and 2 children (Emma is 12 and Matthew 9) I am originally from Kelso, close by to Stichill and this is also where I work. My hobbies include cycling and running.

Why they chose this property

Melrose is one of the Borders' prettiest towns, nestling at the foot of the dramatic Eildon Hills with the River Tweed bordering the town, and stunning local scenery.

It is very accessible to Edinburgh as well as the coast, and numerous border golf courses, many of whom offer reasonable rates over a 3-5 day "Freedom of the Fairways" pass.

Many walks of varying length and challenge are on offer in stunning settings, including St Cuthbert's Way, and the Borders Abbey Way.

The town is acknowledged for its excellent restaurants, bars, cafes and individual shops.

Edinburgh airport is an hour and a quarter away, and there are train stations in Carlisle, Newcastle and Berwick upon Tweed.

The new railway line fromEdinburgh to Tweedbank - 2 miles from the property is now fully operational.

Many festivals take place throughout the year including the very popular book festival in June, which spans 4 days of talks and discussion by famous authors. The venue is a delightful walled garden of a restored Regency house.

Festivals are held in the summer throughout the Borders reflecting traditions of riding the marches or boundaries. Each town takes enormous pride in its celebrations, which last for approx. a week.

Pipeband and Highland dancing championships are hosted here.

Home of rugby 7's, an annual tournament is held in April, attracting sides from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, as well as the local sides.

With such close proximity to Edinburgh it is also a good location to take in the Edinburgh Festival.

What makes this property unique

The flat is in the centre of the High Street, and is convenient for the shops, restaurants and bars, so the car can be abandoned. The property is spread over two floors. Small and quirky, it has 2 original Victorian fireplaces, and original wooden shutters to the sitting room windows.

Free carparking is available approx. 100 yards from the flat, with one hour free parking between 9am-5pm. On the street.
