About this property

Rowan Tree Lodge with Hot Tub, a beautiful Woodland Retreat in Shropshire

Step inside Rowan Tree Lodge on our peaceful woodland estate and you'll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of home. With its contemporary open plan design, the living and dining space are an inviting site after a long journey. Even before you unpack you will be planning a lazy afternoon on the wrap around deck and an even longer evening catching up with good company and a glass of something chilled. Rowan Tree Lodge is situated in a site of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest. Access is from a private road that winds its way down through eight acres of woodland to reveal panoramic views across six counties.

In the cosy living room area, you can sit back and relax on winter evenings next to the log burner on the comfortable L shaped sofa. The lodge has a fully equipped modern kitchen, dining room area, bathroom with shower and a lovely double bedroom with a comfy double bed and large walk in wardrobe. Situated on the deck is a two person Scandinavian wood fired hot tub which you an add as a special treat for an additional £55 (please note that the hot tub does not have jets out of respect of the wildlife. The hot tub will be lit on your day of arrival and includes one basket of logs. Extra logs can be purchased from the main house). Rowan Tree Lodge also has an outdoor BBQ (charcoal not included), outdoor breakfast area (including dining set and sofa), hammock and chiminea. Dogs are also very welcome at an additional cost of £25 per dog which is due in cash on arrival. (Max 2). Logs can be pre ordered and purchased for £6 per bag.

Please note that although secluded, this is the least secluded property we have at Woodland Escapes which is reflected in the price (approx. 40 meters from the main house). For more secluded properties and for properties suitable for children and more people head to Woodland Escapes to see more.

Quiet surroundings
We stayed for two nights as a stop gap when we were holidaying in the area. Although the cabin is by the car park and owners house it still felt private. It was well equipped with coffee, teas, shower gel etc but is very cosy and cramped in the living area. We also felt in places it was looking a bit tired. Didn’t use the hot tub so can’t comment on that. Plenty of information sent before arrival. Check in was via a phone call and we never got to meet anyone. The first part of the track from the main road is awful with massive pot holes, it gets better once you hit the tarmac. It could be the first part does not belong to the property so can’t be made any better but it would help if some of the holes were filled in. It was certainly a very peaceful place and was lovely hearing the owls at night.

Excellent stay at Rowan Tree Lodge
My girlfriend and myself had a fantastic time at the lodge. The area was lovely and secluded despite being next to the main house. There were amazing views in the local area and the lodge itself was clean and cosy. We highly recommend staying here if you want a lovely private getaway in the countryside!

Lovely stay!
Wonderful mini break for our honeymoon. Myself, my husband and dog. The property is close to the main house, which I read in previous reviews but this didn't matter at all as we had full privacy. The lodge is equipped with everything needed for a luxury stay. The whole area is so peaceful , quiet and calm. I'd return to this place in a heartbeat :)

We are a family of three very hard working women. There is my mother Janet, my daughter Fern and myself who run our holiday let business here in Shropshire. My daughter has a degree in English Literature and is currently studying to be a barrister, while working full time as a Legal Assistant in Shrewsbury. I am an accountant and am lucky enough to work in a beautiful location in Clun. Having grown up in Yorkshire, the beauty of the Shropshire Hills was what I had always dreamed of and when we first saw Bowketts Wood with its stunning panoramic views, woodlands and grounds, I knew that it would be my forever family home.

My children have both had a lovely and safe upbringing surrounded by nature and they have come to love and appreciate the Shropshire countryside as much as I have.

Why they chose this property

We want our guests and visitors to experience the beauty of nature and all it has to offer in every season.Whether you like the warmth and serenity of summer, the bleating of the lambs in spring, the golden colours of autumn or the crispness of the winter, Rowan Lodge is the perfect tranquil escape. Ideal for couples looking for a romantic and peaceful retreat or a small family looking for a quiet break away.

What makes this property unique

The beautiful views of over six counties are absolutely breathtaking. Based on a sight of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest, our garden and grounds are home to over sixty types of rare and exotic plants and flowers, as well as a host of wildlife including foxes, badgers and deer. We are also in a perfect location for bird watching and have our own woodland buzzard who often swoops down whilst driving up the drive, In the Summer our woodland is covered in a blanket of bluebells and the whole place just comes to life. It truly is a special, unique and magical place.
