About this property

Beachfront Cottage on Rare Downeast Sandy Beach

The cottage is cool and the location is awesome! It's situated in the open dune grass about twenty five feet from the beach. It is what we call a two and a half bedroom setup (one queen bedroom facing the ocean, one bunk room, and a third elevated 3/4 bed off the central room that kids enjoy sleeping in - a cot is available too). It has one bath with a shower and a galley kitchen. Amenities include a working stone fireplace made of ocean-weathered rocks from the surrounding islands, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee maker, a TV with DVD player (movie shop in town but lots of movies at the cottage), and wifi! You will find a number of new high quality furniture pieces, rugs, and lighting, along with luxury bath and bedroom linens. Friendly, non- aggressive dogs are very welcome and will thoroughly enjoy the beach. The protected beach and bay is ideal for kayaking, SUPs, and kid-friendly wakeboarding and there is an island at one end of the beach that folks can walk to at low tide. There are also many coastal walking/hiking trails in the area (Great Wass Island Preserve and the Bold Coast Trail to name a couple). If you are a power boat or sailing family, there are some really special coves and islands to explore. The cottage is open from June through mid-October. Our family and friends have enjoyed this beach and area for generations and we hope you have a chance to enjoy this special place too.

Perfect!
Twin ledges was clean, cozy and comfortable! The sandy beach was wonderful for walking or just hanging out and relaxing. The proximity to the water is incredible. Can't wait to come back!

Ideal beach cottage
We have been looking to book this property for 5 years and this year was the first time the stars aligned. This is everything we were looking at in a beach cottage. What a magnificent view! Just a few steps to the sandy beach and the water. The cottage is outfitted with everything needed to enjoy one’s stay, including a wood stove for that cold, rainy day and beautiful artwork from a local artist. We cannot adequately express how much we (and our dogs) enjoyed our stay. This cottage is as perfect a location as can be found for those seeking to “get away from it all.” Finally, we leave this review wanting to say wonderful things about this cottage and its owners but know doing so will encourage others to stay here, thus making it more difficult for us to secure a reservation in the future. 🙂 We hope it won’t be five more years.

OUTSTANDING!!
I don't have the words to describe how wonderful this cottage is. I have been renting along the Downeast Maine Coast for more than 10 years and this one was the best yet. The cottage is very cozy and comfortable and had a lot of charm and character. The location is also exceptional - right on a beautiful beach. Gorgeous beach and view. The dogs loved it too! The owner/property manager was exceptionally helpful and responsive. We had a near perfect week. We will definitely be back. Often!

My name is Steve (at right in photo) and my twin brother Jon is on the left (our dad is in the middle). The two of us (and our lovely wives) bought the cottage from our uncle in the Fall of 2014. It's been a special place for our family for four generations and we're hoping to keep that going! My immediate family and I live outside Portland, Maine and my brother and his family live on the north shore of Massachusetts. We're a pretty tight, but busy family and enjoy getting together at the beach for a couple weeks each summer to reconnect, relax, have some adventures, and have fun! It's a really special place and we really enjoy sharing it with others!

Why they chose this property

The cottage is about 25ft from a rare, sandy beach on the rocky coast of Maine!

What makes this property unique

Awesome sunrises, sounds of the waves gently lapping at the shore and fresh ocean breezes at night after a day of relaxing or exploring. It's a special location!
