About this property

PBL: Summer is coming/inflation buster sale! Prices reduced! Weeks open below!

Rentals are by the week in Summer From Friday to Friday. Currently open are: 6/21-6/28,7/19-7/26,7/26-8/2,8/9-8/16,8/16-8/23,8/23-8/30! I update this regularly as they book. So please put in one of those weeks to be able to instantly book. And please check the pet fee icon if bringing your dog(s). There are also some earlier June shorter stays open and its not too early to book for Fall and Fall colors either!

Please note: If you book 7 nights or more from post Labor Day to before Memorial Day weekend, you will automatically receive 30% off the booking price for your stay. This is essentially 2-3 nights free depending on time of year and includes holiday periods!

Also, my pontoon is available for rent at a discount. Please just ask for current prices - basically doing a half price sale and its way less even at full price than local marine places. And the pontoon is clean, gassed and ready for you on the dock so no transport required by you.

My place is a highly rated Norway pine lodge on a sand beach and crystal clear Little Bass Lake! Great fishing from the docks, diving dock or out on this deep lake (72 feet). Kayaks, canoe, paddleboat and paddleboard provided.

Beach weather will be here before you know it and we will be relaxing and swimming at the sand beach! Great dates remain in prime summer (see headline), spring and fall!

I have a Four season hand-scribed log home on Little Bass lake on a private 5.0 acre lot at end of dead end road. Only 1 distant neighbor. Interior finished with knotty pine ceiling and Australian Cyprus wood floors, and Tamarack paneling. Full kitchen including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, stove, oven and center island. Watch the stars from the large deck facing the quiet bay at the South end of Little Bass Lake. There is good fishing right from docks. A-Frame vaulted ceilings with master BR and bath in loft. Main floor has 2 large bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchen and great room and has a 4 season porch that is great for family meals any time of year. The walkout basement is unfinished but there are laundry facilities and an elliptical for use by guests.

The campfire pit makes an excellent spot for conversation, singalongs and S'mores. Firewood provided.

A 150-acre 70 foot deep lake, Little Bass has an abundant fishery including northern pike, large mouth bass, good crappie fishing, and even the occasional walleye. You will want to fish for walleye early or late as its such a clear body of water:)

See the beach pics. Sand beach for building sand castles and sand bottom out to 5 feet. There is a diving dock platform to swim or kayak to.

There is also great cross country skiing, downhill skiing/tubing, hiking and bike trail system close by in the Chippewa National Forest. Just google Itasca county trails or Mount Itasca to find them

Broadband wireless internet and basic cable TV included with a smart tv for streaming. A public boat access on lake makes it convenient to launch your boat. Plenty of dock space for your boat on the docks at my property. I do have a pontoon but will only rent to people I have talked to and can be assured know how to operate it. If interested please let me know.

Thanks! Randy

Ps: my cleaners are excellent and sanitize all surfaces. I’ve received many compliments.

PPS: Sustainable practices: In addition to recycling bins in the basement which are clearly labeled, you are coming to a Forest and I love trees. You will see that I have planted many white and red pines on the property and that I nurture them. And though I try to insure a view of the lake from the lodge, I have worked hard not to cut down any more trees that necessary in the building process. So I think of my lodge as my 'treehouse'. Trees as you know take carbon out of the atmosphere. And of course looking at their beauty in addition to the water and blue skies always makes me feel calm and at ease. There are views of the lake from lodge but it is also very forest like and private at the lodge. A short walk to the beach gives you the full beach and lake experience.

Fall Getaway
Wow, what a fabulous weekend getaway. The home and property are beautiful. Everything you need is available for a relaxing vacation. Enough space for a family or group of friends. Randy is one of the best property owners I’ve worked with. Easy to communicate with and very accommodating. We will be staying here again!

A Magical Retreat
We were completely enchanted by this log cabin oasis. Nestled just a short, 5min scenic walk away from a private lake beachfront, this home was an absolute dream. The trail to the beach is a curvy delight, and the house itself is both grand and cozy. It's a paradise for dogs and water lovers alike— with kayaks aplenty, and even a floating pontoon perfect for sunbathing. The kitchen is equipped for any culinary endeavor, but if you forget anything, fear not; grocery stores and Target/Walmart are conveniently nearby. A pro tip for future guests: bring a rolling cart to easily transport your beach/fishing gear to the sandy haven. Firewood is abundant, and we were even treated to a double rainbow over the house—just adding to the magical ambiance. We rounded out our evenings with family sunset cruises on the pontoon boat. Truly, this is a slice of heaven. Highly recommend for a memorable, enchanted getaway.

Our family had a great time at the Peterson Bay cabin! The property was secluded and tranquil yet close to town for amenities. Very clean! We enjoyed mornings on the spacious outdoor deck and evenings by the lake with beautiful views. Randy was very prompt with booking and providing info; very smooth process! Thankful we had this experience and would highly recommend.

Hi Everyone! I built this gorgeous log home on Little Bass Lake in 2004. But I have had this property since 1996 and still also own a small cabin next door to this rental home. Therefore I am sometimes around at the start and end of your stay unless I have the changeover duties covered which is what I have moved more and more towards doing.

I am originally from So St. Paul but have lived and worked for IBM in the Rochester area for years when not up enjoying the Grand Rapids area. I've been coming with my family to this area on summer vacations since I was 5 years old or so and just fell in love with the area early on. It is still unbelievable to me that Itasca county is home to 1000+ of our 10000 lakes.

I have a daughter and son who are both married and I have 5 grandchildren now that come here and enjoy the lodge and beach and all the activities!

You will see a lot of trees that I have planted from back in the 1990s. White pines, Norway pines and Tamaracks. It is my way of helping out with the warming of the climate and I just love nurturing them along over the years.

Why they chose this property

As I said, I have been coming to this area with my family on vacations since I was 5 and I just love it here. I sit on the dock at nights listening to the loons, or the frogs start the croaking and I can just feel any remaining stress leave me. I hope you will feel that too. And if you are lucky, you might get treated to a northern lights display. I also love this place in the fall through December. The fall colors are so beautiful and there is nothing like a crisp Autumn day whether you are into late fishing, hunting or sitting by the campfire or the indoor great room fireplace. And seeing all the colors from the decks is great too!

What makes this property unique

What I always loved about raising my son, daughter, and nieces and nephews here was that the lake was just perfect for family. Its big enough that we could go tubing during the day while its also not so big that allowing the kids to go boating or out in the canoe alone will lead to any problems. They just really can't get lost or into too much trouble. Great in every season!
