Overview

About the property

4 Bedrms/3 Bathrms - great for family reunions or 2 families traveling together

This is a beautiful brownstone that we lovingly rebuilt as our family home. It is MUCH larger than most homes in the city of New York. A spacious, comfortable home in which to relax and enjoy all that NY has to offer. Incomparable space and comfort and priced for affordability.

We do have a strict no smoking policy and require quiet evening activities.

The expansive first floor has 12 ft ceilings, a gleaming fully equipped kitchen w/washer and dryer, a comfortable living room with large flat-screen television and a dining room with a wide table that seats 8 plus diners. There are four ample and pleasant bedrooms. On the third floor one bedroom has a king sized bed, one cozy bedroom with a full/double bed and one bedroom has two full/double beds. The Master bedroom on the second floor has a queen bed and large en suite bathroom - soaking tub, heat lamp and separate toilet. The office has two couches that fold out to full/double beds for more options. There is also a snug reading nook on the second floor with a single foldout. There are 2 full bathrooms and one half bathroom, one on each floor. All linens provided.

There is a lovely south facing perennial garden. Perfect for coffee in the am, an outdoor play space for children, or dinner at twilight.

Please, no smoking indoors and no loud parties. This is not a hotel but a private residence in a neighborhood with families.

It is easy to get everywhere. MTA/Subway - two blocks from the 2/3, five blocks from the A/B/C/D, three stops from mid-town - 18min - LYFT and UBER anywhere.

Metro-North Commuter train - 125th Street station is five blocks away, 45 min to Connecticut.

Stop looking around for a place and book now!

  • 5 of 5

Do you have a large group trip planned for NYC?

If you do, stop looking around and book this place if it's available! First of all, by normal US standards, this place is big. By NYC standards, it's a mansion!

The Space: What you get here is three floors of space to spread out, 2.5 baths, 5 separate bedrooms and enough room to sleep a small army of people (my group had 5, but you can easily fit many more). Add to that a full kitchen, dining area (which we coined the Executive Conference Room), and living room. I'd say you can 'live like the locals', but in reality most of the locals are in tiny cramped apartments... this place is a gem.

The Neighborhood: When I told my friend that we were staying in Harlem, they asked me if I was crazy. Rest assured, if you've never been in Harlem, or haven't been in the past 10 years, don't believe what you're probably thinking when it comes to this place. The neighborhood is fantastic, safe, and full of energy. Up and down this street the neighbors were outside having a good time, talking with each other and playing card games. When is the last time you walked down a street that neighbors were being 'neighborly', and not just huddled up in their houses staring at the television? The subway is less than 5 minutes away and will get you anywhere you want to. There are restaurants and grocery stores all over the area as well - I recommend stopping in the Corner Social as few block uptown at 126th for dinner and a few drinks...my group had a great time there.

The Host: Tina was great and quickly answered my questions via email during our stay. She provided phone numbers to reach her at in case of emergency, and the downstairs apartment tenants were nice and available for anything as well.

This place has everything you could need. Why stay at a cramped hotel room when this can be your home away from home? Book this spot now if it's available, I certainly know I will for my next trip to the Big Apple!

Excellent location, spacious house

  • 5 of 5

Our group enjoyed the stay. We were able to do yoga, and there was plenty of space for 7 of us. The house has wonderful Harlem vibes. We didn't do much cooking, due to the nearby fabulous eateries, and not just the famous ones--Delhi Masala and Babbalucci were excellent. However, the kitchen is well equipped for anyone with an urge to cook.

Fantastic Harlem abode

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic experience in Harlem. From the very start of our booking Tina was excellent- fantastic communication and when there was a wee issue on our arrival day Tina dealt with it as quickly as possible and gave us a refund to make up for the problem which was a lovely gesture. The house is marvellous and just stunning. Beautiful open plan downstairs with plenty of room for our group of 9 women. All you need is there and more. The bedrooms are spacious and I slept on one of the pull down couches which was comfier than most beds! There are 2 huge bathrooms with massive tubs and a sauna (we didn’t use it as too tired after walking all day). The neighbourhood is fantastic with subways a 5min walk at most, lots of wee stores nearby for those bits you forgot and about 10 min walk to main shopping area. Lots of food places to eat and Harlem Shake, Sylvia’s and Red Rooster all minutes away. Staying here really helped make our trip more special, feeling and experiencing a really neighbourhood was fantastic and so much better than a hotel. Time on subway to Central Park- 10-15mins, south ferry 30min, midtown 15-20 depending where about. You have local and express trains so obviously one quicker than the other.

I really can’t rave about Tina and her home enough, don’t miss out on a marvellous experience. And a huge thank you Tina, you made our stay so enjoyable and stress free.

Beautiful townhome in a charming location

  • 5 of 5

Tina you have a fantastic property in such a great location in Harlem. My family felt very secure and truly enjoyed East Harlem with its blend of true Harlem culture and proximity to everything in upper Central Park. A tremendous value compared to pricier and smaller venues closer to Midtown Manhattan. If you have a family and looking for a clean, safe, and home full of everything you need to make your family feel at home, Tina has the place for you.

Owner's Response: Eric, you are so kind. We could rent for more but it is nice to offer a bargain for families when Manhattan is so very pricey. We love Harlem and we're glad you had fun here too. Come again!

About Owner/Property Manager

My husband, three children and I love this city. I went to college here, my husband and I lived here before and shortly after we started our family. We built this home for our family before my husband's work took us out of state but we make it back as often as we can. He is often here weekly for work. It is larger than most homes in the city and has a rare piece of outdoor space that is great for kids.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this townhome in 1998

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Harlem

Harlem is a bustling center. Here in this diverse community we have a large and beautiful home - from high ceilings to a tranquil garden, and on the train everything is close. Just what we wanted - couldn't resist. Perfect for our family.

What makes this townhome unique

Unusually large space for Manhattan! The south facing garden is like a little piece of zen in the city that never sleeps. NYC is full of great museums and adventures and Harlem is always on the cutting edge in terms of music, fashion, food and art. We know it is expensive to travel and stay in the city and have priced this to make it available for families in particular. Do the research and compare to four or five hotel rooms. This is a wonderful option.
