About the property

Fantastic location in the Park Place Historic District near the Falls

The house is a large old Victorian built in 1890. It has been recently rescued and renovated. It has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms on the second floor. The HUGE living room, library and dining room, kitchen and half bath are on the first floor. It is fully furnished for you to make yourselves at home. The kitchen is stocked with all the items you need to make your own meals if you wish. If you do not wish to cook, there are restaurants 1 block away on Third Street and more near the Falls.

The front porch is a lovely place to relax in the evening after a day of sightseeing or grill up some dinner in the backyard/garden. There is dedicated parking for up to 3 cars off the alley behind the house.

About Carroll Reetz

We are avid travelers and running this guesthouse allows us some freedom in the off season to do just that. Carroll spent most of her career in Human Resources but gave it all up (darn) several years ago to open a hostel in Niagara Falls- leaving the wonderful California weather behind but gaining a wonderful husband. Andre is from Germany and we found each other here! We have since expanded from the hostel and added a couple vacation rentals to our endeavors. We think they are a great alternative to a sterile hostel - more like home away from home.

Carroll Reetz purchased this house in 2014

Why Carroll Reetz chose Niagara Falls

Over the last several years, we have purchased several homes and brought them back to life. When Andre saw this one on the market, we thought long and hard about it since it needed a lot of work. But could not let it go. It is a beautiful old home in a fabulous location near the Falls. This is an area undergoing revitalization and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

We are fully permitted and certified by the City of Niagara Falls that we meet all building and fire codes required to operate a vacation rental. Many listings in Niagara Falls are not legal, so be careful. Keep your family safe and be sure to book with those operators that can show you their permit and certificate of occupancy.

What makes this house unique

The house is LARGE. It is our only house that will accommodate 8-12 people. There are 2 full and 1 half bath and two staircases (front and back). It is ideal for large families or reunions with friends. It is also a great place for preparing for a wedding at the Falls. Plenty of space for all.

Lovely home with a delightful balance of style and relaxation.

  • 5 of 5

Carroll & Andre have created a most welcoming home. My family enjoyed everything from the open living room and dining room, right down to the children’s bed room and snow filled back yard. This rental is thoughtfully designed, in a beautiful location, and will surely call you back again and again.

Lots of space for my family

This was our second stay at The Mint for Thanksgiving. Enjoyed our stay just as much as the first time. The only issue we had was the leaking Keurig coffee maker, but hopefully that will be repaired for the next visiter's stay.

Amazing house and great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing! The neighborhood appeared a little shady when we pulled up but we had no complaints our entire stay. The house itself is lovely. Much bigger than it appears from the street. There was plenty of room for the 8 adults that were staying with us. Everything we needed was available and if not Carroll was just a phone call away. So happy we chose to stay here!

Great owner, available to respond quickly for any concerns / questions. Property was great and very well kept. The property made our whole niagara fall trip great... We felt at home outside our home.. Will prefer this over any other option in future too.

The house is situated in the Park Place Historic District within a typical rust belt city. It is a national historic district located at Niagara Falls in Niagara County, New York. It encompasses 89 contributing buildings. It is principally a residential district built up between 1885 and 1928. The dominant architectural styles are Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Arts and Crafts.

This an urban environment with a diverse racial and socioeconomic population. While many of the big old houses in the area are lovely and well maintained, there are others that are neglected or empty. It is an area that is slowly being brought back to life with new people and energy.
