About owner/property manager

Mary is a retired business woman from Washington. She has travelled to several countries and when deciding on a place to retire visited Ajijic and like many others fell in love with the warmer, more colorful, and slower pace of life here. She has remodeled the house to include a main house and three casitas which she enjoys sharing with people from around the world.

Excellent location, very picturesque garden and Casitas

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully decorated Casita with modern amenities such as purified water throughout and upgraded plumbing and excellent wifi reception. We enjoyed the views from the Mirador and convenient location with short walks into town, grocery store, busses, weekly farmers market and restaurants. Mary went out of her way to ensure that all of our needs were met and was a lovely hostess along with co-host Charlie. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful and relaxing week staying with Mary and Charlie, in this beautifully decorated casita, in a quiet area of town yet in walking distance to everything! Fully equipped kitchen, beautiful yard, spacious rooms, there was nothing missing. Hoping to return to Ajijic soon and staying in this beautiful casita again! Thx again Mary, Monik and Daniel

Even Better Than The Pictures.

  • 5 of 5

I was fortunate to a enjoy a whole month at Casa de Colores, delighting in its décor, comfort, and quality. It's larger than it looks in the photos. Each area has a ceiling fan (that's four in all). With super-high ceilings and many screened windows, Casa de Colores is designed for tropical comfort. And the garden. Ah, the garden! When I first arrived it was almost midnight. Mary opened the gate and I gazed, transfixed, at the impeccable and artistically lit, lavish and secluded garden-world that would be my Mexican home. Mary was unfailingly generous with information and hints, all of which enriched my Ajiic experience. As a single woman in her seventies, I always felt safe. Everywhere, and any time. Of course I want to return. To explore the region in its winter season. I only hope hope HOPE that Casa de Colores will be available to welcome me again!

Absolutely gorgeous! with a very "home away from home" feel!!!

  • 5 of 5

I really can't say enough good things about this place. It was the perfect location, for starters...a short walk to the center of town, and all shops and restaurants, but away from the hustle and bustle, with wonderful views of the mountains and the lake. The Casitas are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The garden is a joy to sit in, as is the Mirador, with wonderful views of both the mountains and the lake! In fact, this place is so beautiful and so peaceful, it was hard to leave it each day to go site-seeing...and, the most important factor...the owner, Mary was just delightful and so very, very helpful and accommodating! Her dog, Charlie was a huge delight also, and made me feel very much at home(as I was missing my own pups)!

Owner's Response: You both were a lot of fun for Charlie and for me. You were able to get the most out your short stay. I hope you will think about returning at some point. I know that your departure was not the best and that the hurricanes made travel delayed and difficult. Thank you for your help with my copper sink and faucets. You have set the bar very high :). Thank you, Margaret, for this great review.

Ajijic has it all: Galleries, restaurants, cafes, lake and mountains. Stroll the treelined cobblestoned streets. Visit the open market on Wednesdays and get a real flavor of Mexico from foods to traditional crafts. Relax after walking the length of Ajijic's malacon ( boardwalk) where you will see flocks of pelicans, herons and cranes. It is just a 10 minute walk to the Lake Chapala Society which offers a wealth of information about the area and its activities. There is a reason why this area is so popular with visitors from around the world. Yes, National Geographic gave it the distinction of the second best climate in the world, but there is so much more.
