Escape to upcountry Maui and the Plantation Garden Cottage. No crowds, no hustle, bustle, just the peaceful environment of rural Haiku. This is a vacation where you'll feel like a local, and enjoy the relaxed pace of the north side of Maui. Take your time in the morning, perhaps some yoga on the large overhung deck, then hop in your car or on your bicycle to head off and explore for the day. Perhaps you're heading to the Hui for some art classes, down to Hookipa to surf, out the Hana Highway to the waterfalls, or farther upcountry to explore the farms of Kula. Makawao is just ten minutes from the cottage, and Paia fifteen minutes. There is so much to see and do on the north side, that we doubt one trip will be enough! But then again... you really don't need to go anywhere ... you might decide to stay at the cottage and relax for the day.
The Plantation Garden Cottage shares a two acre property with the Main House. Each has its own private area, out of sight of the other dwelling.
To the right side of the cottage is the Palm Farm, with rows of gorgeous royal palms. The area to the front of the cottage has a large lawn, with a variety of papaya trees, a huge mango tree, an avocado tree, both black and yellow bamboo, and plenty of other tropical plants. Feel free to pick whatever fruit you find on the trees. The cottage has a gazebo with gas BBQ and an outdoor dining area. It feels like you’re having dinner in the garden!
This cottage was fully refurbished in January 2015. Gorgeous wood floors are throughout the cottage and every room is surrounded by windows. With high ceilings and oversized doors, the cottage feels much larger than its 1000 sf.
The living area opens to a large covered lanai with some comfy Adirondack chairs, and outdoor dining. There is also indoor dining for four.
The kitchen has the feel of a plantation style cottage surrounded by windows, with white cabinetry, and aqua counter tops. The appliances are top-notch – Fisher & Paykel fridge, Bosch gas range and Bosch Dishwasher. The cabinets are filled with all of the kitchen items you’ll need – plenty of dinnerware, flatware, pots, pans, serving dishes, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and French press.
The cottage has two bedrooms (king, queen beds). The queen room has a vintage four poster bed, and opens to the large lanai. The king room opens to a small lanai on the back of the cottage.
The bathroom has marble vanity top, wonderful claw foot tub, and a private outdoor shower.
Other amenities – telephone, WiFi, flat screen TV with DVD, laundry.

This property has a vacation rental permit issued by the County of Maui, and is subject to the rules and restrictions imposed by the County for all short term rental homes. Please understand that we would be unable to accept a rental that does not agree to abide by these rules. Note: properties without a short term rental permit are subject to closure by the County.
1. Neighbors - Please be considerate of our neighbors. Noise carries easily to their homes, particularly in the evening. NO loud music, NO parties, NO amplified sound of any nature at any time. Many neighbors must be up early in the morning to go to work, and it’s important that your use of this property does not impact them in any way.
2. Quiet Hours - Quiet time is from 9pm to 8am.
3. Use of the Property - Additional friends/family CANNOT be invited to the property and it cannot be used as a “meeting place”. The property can be used ONLY by the guests listed on the rental agreement. The County law allows us to accommodate a maximum of two guests x the number of bedrooms.
4. Parking - There is plenty of parking on the property. Vehicles CANNOT be parked on the street at any time. When vehicles are on the street, there is insufficient space for emergency vehicles, fire trucks, the trash truck or neighbors to get down the road.
Additional information with respect to care and maintenance of the house will be included in the rental agreement.

Final payment: due 60 days prior to arrival.
If cancellation is more than 60 days prior to arrival, the two night deposit is forfeited. If cancellation is within 60 days of arrival date, all payments are forfeited, unless the space is re-rented.
