About this property

Cowslip Lodge Fantastic pet/family, river fishing and beautiful country side

Cowslip Lodge pet and family-friendly, river fishing and beautiful countryside.
There are 3 lodges , they sit by themselves , on the edge of the river Tees in spectacular countryside. Upriver, the Tees cascades over High force, flows down through the historic town of Barnard Castle, with the majestic Bowes Museum, past the lodges and on to Piercebridge.
Many cosy local pubs to a Michelin Star restaurant, makes sure you never go hungry or thirsty. Family attractions Raby Castle, Beamish museum, high force waterfall ect..

The surroundings are just gorgeous, so peaceful and just a short drive away from Barnard Castle.
There is just 5 Lodges, we rent 3 of them out, the other 2 , are just for our own use.

Fishing access to over a 1 mile of private salmon and trout fishing. If you would like to fish, you will require a valid rod licence and a prepaid permission letter from us, for the days you would like to fish, fishing without prepayment and permission notice, could lead to prosecution.

Highcliffe Waters Lodges are also ideally situated for walkers, with the Teesdale Way passing through the site.

The 92 mile long Teesdale Way runs from Cow Green near the source of the river, all way to the sea and it links up with the Cleveland Way and Pennine.

There are many shorter circular walks running along the banks of the river, all of which are very well marked.

Many cosy pubs
- Barnard Castle mini golf, The Hub, shops, cafes,
- Bowes museum in Barnard Castle too
- Raby Castle and playground
- Wetheriggs Zoo
- Walworth Castle
- High Force Waterfall
- Hamsterley Forest with adventure playground/bike routes in woodland

- Beamish museum a tast of the past also wild high ropes and adventure centre.
- Infinete Air and Cathedral in Durham.

Quiet and peaceful
At the end of a long lane, this is as peaceful as it gets. The lodge is well equipped and well maintained. Just note there is no clothes dryer. Also there is no wifi and no mobile signal. So if you really want to get away from it all, this is the place!

Beautiful remote location
Absolutely stunning location and very lucky to befriend neighbouring lodge family which enhanced the stay. Lodges were immaculate and perfect for me and my dogs and my kids half the week and a friend who visited later. The only criticism is no WiFi and no tv service which is not specified when booking. Also the DVD player did not work properly and I bought many dvds locally which I left so this was a shame. Stunning views. A toilet brush would have been helpful and could be sanitised and bleached.

Totally enjoyable stay
We had a lovely time at this lodge...the place was spotless, peacefull and perfect for the five of us and our dog. No wi fi and no signals on our phones meant we got together nightly as a family to.play games and watch TV. The only niggle...and this is a minor one...is that the river isn't very accessible...its quite a climb down to.it. However this just added to the adventure!! Even the bad weather didn't put us off. Would highly recommend. 5* from us !!

Beautiful lodge in a very peaceful setting
The lodge has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard and the furnishings and decor are beautiful. The lodge is very well equipped with everything you need for your stay. We enjoyed fishing in the river and walking locally. We also had wonderful food in pubs in nearby villages. We found the owners very helpful and they always responded quickly to messages. Will stay again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a trip to Yorkshire.
