In addition, it has twice weekly markets, a cinema, doctors and dentists. Everything you could require. The town also has a lovely clean outdoor pool during the summer and in 2017 will open a brand new lake for swimming with a fishing lake situated nearby.
This area is superb for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors – miles and miles of walks and hikes through stunning countryside await. There are also fantastic centres for climbing, rafting, canoeing, horse riding, fishing and cycling in and around the town. Situated in the heart of Cathar country, there are castles and abbeys to explore aplenty. And if you enjoy wine tasting there are dozens of caves offering just that.
There are several beautiful lakes within 40mins drive and the beach is only just over an hour away. With a lovely small ski station only 30 mins drive and larger more adventurous ski stations only 1 hour away it really is a year round location.
Getting here is easy with low costs flights to Carcassonne (only 45mins away), Perpignan (1hr 10mins) and Toulouse (2hrs). There is fantastic bus and train service to both Carcassonne and Perpignan for only 1 euro per person.
