About the property

Our 19C traditional farmhouse has been carefully rebuilt and restored to a high standard.

The building is on two levels with 3 double bedrooms. Two have full en suite bathrooms, ( one with bath and one with shower.)

A third double bedroom is on the mezzanine.

On the ground floor there is a big well equipped kitchen/dining room with large monastery table.

On the same level there is a shower room/laundry room with toilet and sink. Next door is the office area and stairs leading to the first floor.

The big airy sitting room has the mezzanine and the door leads out to the large west facing terrace and barbecue area. The stone built pool leads out from this with a gate for security. There is a large slightly sloping grassy field belonging to the property and next to the house are open fronted barns which may be used for parking a car or motorcycles.

About The Owner

We are a couple who have been renovating and restoring houses for 22 years in central and southern France and also in Andalucia.

We rebuilt this property to live in ourselves but have decided to make it available for rental in the summer to appreciative people.

We will be nearby working on the next project so will be available to introduce ourselves and of course share our knowledge of the local area if required.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2006

Why The Owner chose Salvagnac-Cajarc

We fell in love with this area and the farmhouse (which was a complete ruin) while we were exploring the area. We love the limestone "Causses" with the scrubby oak trees and junipers. The amazing flowers, clean air, big sunsets, clear starry nights and never ending possibilities for walks with our dogs. Of course for the many markets and their local produce.

Delightful

We fell in love with this place and recommend it very highly. Beautifully renovated, with the charm and character of a historical farmhouse, and the comforts of a modern house. Lovely deep back porch, very quiet (except the occasional bray of a neighboring donkey or cows being paraded out to a back field), lots of places around the property to sit and read or relax, also plenty of space and comfortable furniture inside. Well situated for exploring the area, including prehistoric caves, dolmen, Romanesque churches, medieval towns, gardens, night skies full of stars, etc. Well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, towels, etc. (internet is generally good, but sometimes a bit slow or uneven—not uncommon in rural France, especially satellite connections.) For anglophones: the owners are originally British, and the house is well stocked with novels and reference works. Minor caveats: it is essential to have a car, and to be comfortable with navigating twisty & narrow roads. (There are multiple markets, grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, etc. within striking distance, but all do require driving, as do more ambitious outings than strolling down the road.) Also, the pool is small; very refreshing on a hot day but for splashing and soaking rather than swimming.

Wonderful quiet location and high standard of accommodation. Friendly and helpful owners

Surrounded by lovely countryside and attractive villages. Lots to see and do if you can tear yourself away from the terrace and pool. House clean and comfortable, easily big enough for 6 adults and equipt to a very high standard. Supermarkets bakers bars and restaurants within easy reach by car. Fabulous spot for a get away from it all holiday!

Merci pour ce séjour parfait dans un lieu de caractère, à recommander sans hésiter à ceux qui recherchent la beauté, le calme, les belles balades, le patrimoine naturel et historique exceptionnels de la région. La maison est bien située pour visiter une grande diversité de sites.

La maison est très agréable, confortable, bien équipée. Elle a tout se ce qu'il faut pour se sentir chez soi. Le potager nous a également réservé quelques belles surprises. Merci à Stig pour l'excellent accueil, les conseils et les agréables discussions.

superbe😋!!!

Une maison de rêve reconstruite à partir d'une ruine dans le respect de l'architecture régionale,le tout dans un environnement sauvage et préservé. Idéal pour des vacances zen loin de l'agitation habituelle. Les propriétaires sont charmants et attentionnés tout en restant discrets. De plus ils mettent à disposition un petit jardin un peu sauvage ainsi que des pièces remplies d'objets chinés avec talent sur les brocantes ou trouvés dans les décombres de la maison initiale.Merci donc à Mr. et Mme Hills pour leur accueil et chapeau bas pour la restauration de cette maison faite avec un grand talent et beaucoup de courage( 8 ans de travaux ...😥�)

vacances très reposantes

Séjour très agréable dans une maison au calme refaite avec goût.

Tous les équipements nécessaires à une famille sont présents : gazinière, lave-vaisselle, lave-ligne, une baignoire, 2 douches... (il manque juste peut-être un micro-ondes).

Terrasse très agréable pour les repas.

La piscine est petite (carré 3-4m de coté) avec un accès sécurisé avec barrière, les rebords sont néanmoins dangereux pour des enfants (1-1,5m de haut sur le jardin et en carrelage).

Le potager à côté de la maison est une belle surprise !!

Un petit coin de paradis

Un très belle propriété dans une très belle région. Vous êtes loin de tout (pour les accrocs du net, le wifi fonctionne très bien), vous avez à votre disposition une maison décorée avec goût d'objets chinés un peu partout ; la maison est très confortable et on s'y sent à l'aise tout de suite.

Merci encore aux propriétaires pour leurs petits présents et pour nous avoir permis de nous servir dans le beau potager. On espère pouvoir revenir avec un peu plus de chance niveau météo !

The property is situated on the southern fringe of the Causses du Quercy National Park with easy access to the best of the Lot and Aveyron departments. From the magnificent gorges and perched villages of the Lot to the wooded valleys and fortified bastide towns of the Aveyron.

Historic towns such as Villefranche de Rouergue, Cajarc, Figeac and Limogne en Quercy are all within easy reach. They all have weekly markets with a great choice of local fresh produce.The biggest being Villefranche de Rouergue where the whole town is closed to traffic every Thursday and transformed into a huge colourful market place.

There are many activities available such as canoeing and kayaking on the Lot and Célé rivers, visits to the incredible caves at Pech Merle, Lacave, Grottes de Foissac, and horse riding, fishing, caving etc.

The area is perfect for walking. There are endless paths and tracks across the "causse" covered with small oaks and juniper, offering total freedom with perfectly clean air. Well behaved dogs are welcome at the house.

Also we are situated in the "Black Triangle of Quercy" which has been named as the best night sky in mainland France for star watching with no light pollution.

There are many opportunities to sample the wonderful products of the region whether it is the charcuteries and cheeses, fruit and vegetables in season or of course the wines. Perhaps at one of the many resturants in the area or in the comfort of home on the terrace with a barbecue watching the amazing sunset.

Not forgetting of course the thrill of seeking the bargains on the many vide greniers/brocantes (like car boot sales) every weekend.

The cottage will be clean and tidy on your arrival. All we ask is that you leave it in the same condition on your departure. If this is not the case there will be a cleaning charge of 50euros.
Please note that as a guest you stay and use the facilities entirely at your own risk. You should take proper and appropriate safety precautions during your visit and provide yourself with travel and personal health insurance.
Parents have full responsibility for their children and animals at all times particularly in and around the pool area.
