Perfect winter wonderland
We had a wonderful week over Christmas and New year staying at this beautiful cabin. We aren’t very accustomed to snow coming from the other side of the world but the owners had organized someone to come and help us out shoveling and providing the sand and salt we needed to ensure we weren’t stuck ( he even helped us build a fire )
The place is beautiful, clean and well maintained. We had a great week away from the rest of the world, going for walks in the snow, sledding and building snowmen. Bracebridge is a cute little town only 15 min away so even though you feel as though you are far away from the rest of the world you are still close enough if you need milk and bread!
Highly recommend this place for a lovely getaway.
Beautiful location, very private home on the River close to Bracebridge.
This is a nice home on the river. A perfect getaway which is close to Bracebridge. It has all you need for your stay. The driveway is chalenging but manageable with 4 wheel drive. You can park up top and and not drive down the lane to the house, which I would recommend. The house was clean and the setting is nice for a getaway close to town.
survived the heat
Our family (5 adults and 1 baby) stayed at this lovely home July 2 to 6th. Despite very hot weather and some bugs (mosquitoes and deer flies) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come again. The layout of the house suited us very well - two adults and baby shared the large bedroom on the main floor while a single adult used the loft bedroom and my husband and I stayed in the basement bedroom. It was hot in the home when we arrived but we opened all the windows and put the fans on and were comfortable after a bit. The last evening did get very warm again but the extra fan that we brought came in handy. We had brought along a canoe and enjoyed paddling on the river and visiting the beavers upstream. The driveway was a bit of a challenge but we managed to get our Sienna van with only two wheel drive up and down (with helpful instructions from the owners). The home was clean inside and well equipped. The outside deck and barbecue were a bit messy but nothing too bad. We took chairs down to the dock to sit on and our daughter and son-in-law enjoyed the paddle boat. The river was very refreshing to swim in. There was a bit of sand beside the dock where our granddaughter could sit in the water and cool off. The trip to Bracebridge took about 15 min and we went into town to do a hike along the Muskoka River to Wilson's Falls which were very picturesque. We also visited Kirby's beach on the other side of Bracebridge for a picnic where the shallow water was very warm and there were shade trees and a washroom.
Homely, lovely setting.
Comfortable cottage with good outside space and river frontage. Lots of living space, one big double room plus two smaller.
Good kitchen with pots and pans aplenty!
Loved the log burner and deck area.
Nice to have all linens and toiletries supplied, especially as visiting from UK.
Not too far out of Bracebridge by car.
Relaxing location, very spacious, meticulously cleaned cottage
My sister, mother and I planned a relaxing girls getaway weekend and this place could not have been more perfect. We each got our own room and there was plenty of room to spread out and we were not on top of each other.
This cottage is on a super quiet dirt road, but close enough (15mins) away from town. We opted to park at the top and carry our stuff down the hill. It was very reminiscent of the steep roads in the Azores:).
We walked down to the river and it was absolutely serene, there was a light dusting of snow, it was honestly picture perfect.
In the evenings we enjoyed each others company around the woodstove or watching a movie in the basement.
This cottage is 10mins away from Muskoka Bewery and Bracebridge has quite a few cute little pub/restaurants. Do note that in the "off-season" some close completely or are closed on Sunday and Monday.
We will definitely remember this place when we are looking for another getaway, either with our families (getting down to the river is not steep, I know someone had mentioned that, you just need to take your time and we were there when the path was wet with snow) or spouses.
Fabulous time at a "very muskoka" cottage!
Great place. Comfortable beds, enough space to sleep 6. Beautiful open space with a loft and great extras like laundry and plenty of bathrooms.
