4BR Farmhouse, 2000 sf, Sleeps 8+ Comfortably, 600 sf Guest Cabin available

466 Old Milford Road is a beautiful farm property located in historic Prince Edward County, just 2 hours from Toronto and 45 minutes from Kingston. The property is 5 minutes south of the town of Picton, with 1100 feet of frontage on the old road to Milford. It’s surrounded by fields, farms, old Ontario towns, and is a stone’s throw from about the best beaches in Ontario.

The main house is set well back from the road in a quiet place. It's a 150 year old brick structure with an open ground floor plan comprising a spacious dining room and living room with a high efficiency wood-burning, stone fireplace. There's a vinyl record player, ipod connection and amp to boot! Large windows surround the original footprint of the house. There are original wood floors and area rugs, and enough chairs to seat a crowd.

On the 2nd floor, there are 4 cozy bedrooms each with a queen bed. Duvets, quilts, pillows, and 100% cotton linens and towels are provided. Much of the furniture was handed down by grandmothers and great-grandmothers, who hailed from various farms themselves.

A large addition opens to the south and west with views across our fields and down the lane. The new kitchen, bathroom, laundry and expansive family room are located in the addition. There are simple heated concrete floors, stainless steel countertops, an electric stove and oven, full fridge, half fridge and a large pantry. The lower living room also has a wood-burning, stone fireplace and a separate entrance to the terrace at the back of the house. It’s the epicentre of games, puzzles, a great DVD/VHS collection, lego, and playmobil.

The rear terrace is a fabulous spot for long lunches with friends and family as our resident oriole friends flit by and the rosé stays chilled on ice :) .

Beyond the terrace is a cluster of outbuildings on the property, within which we have built a large circular limestone fire pit. it is a gathering spot for good conversation and late night stargazing. It has been used, on occasion, for roasting local lamb and, more often, not-so-local marshmallows.

One of our past guests has written:

“It’s all so comfortable, spacious and tasteful that we completely relax. The views out all the windows are wonderful all day and night long and they change from moment to moment (there was a crescent moon out the kitchen windows in the wee hours this weekend). We have all that we need for a holiday right around us: walks along the farm lane or across the fields; sunset dinners on the porch; a country drive to the dunes at Sandbanks (where the wind, sand and surf blow the busyness out of our minds); bike rides into Picton for the Saturday paper and coffee; chopping wood and collecting kindling; enjoying the stars before bed. For the most part, we just want to stick around here – even though there are great places to eat, great cheeses to buy and wines to taste, we tend to do it all in one day so that we can just come back, light the fire, make a BBQ, read, read, read (or watch one of the great films you have in your collection!). Each time we come the trees around the house are about to burst and I can only imagine how lovely it is when the lavender is in bloom and your old, french garden flowers emerge from between the tall grasses (and “weeds”!) -- Anne.
