Lewis and Clark traveled by this property in 1804. Later on steamboat paddle wheel boats tied up in Yankton and required fuel, thus old oak trees have regrown on the land with multiple trunks. The sturdy, well built abode is very cozy with an expansive lake view, a buffalo grass area for children to romp, and trails into the surrounding woods enhance the setting. Wildlife is present but not pesky, flagstone patio with a nice fire pit. The access road is graveled. If you want a peaceful accomadation with recreation the location is a winner. Lake access for a boat, canoes is three miles away, and Yankton and Crofton are ten miles distant.
Ashfall fossil beds, Gavin's point national fish hatchery and aquarium, the Gavin's Point damn lookout, Niobrara state recreation area, Lewis and Clark State recreation area with marina across the lake from the lake house , winery in Vermillion. Golf courses nearby, annual national archery championship, walkway over the Missouri River on the original bridge, very hilly area with much vegetation, in crofton a really interesting antique store that is full of collectibles, wind sailing, various beaches, boating canoeing at vermillion lake, barbequeing, walleye fishing, casinos, wildlife refuge. In August riverboat days resumes....The town of Yankton is very clean and safe with very good medical and dental care.
