About this property

HIKE, BIKE & EXPLORE ZION NATIONAL PARK & GOOSEBERRY MESA

Cozy with space for everyone, this historic 100 year old home has remodeled bathrooms and new air conditioning installed in 2021 to help keep you cool in the summer. After a day of hiking, biking, or boating, relax on the front porch and enjoy the sunset.

Built in 1915, this spacious 2300 square foot home sits on a quiet half-acre property with grass to run in, pecan trees for shade and room for your ATVs/boats/bikes/trailers and space for kids to play.

We love our home because it is so close to Zion National Park, where we love to hike the Narrows, Angels Landing and all the beautiful trails. We also love mountain biking, and within 10 minutes we can be on some fantastic beginner/intermediate trails with amazing views. If you have ATVS, bring them and head to Sand Hollow or Pink Coral Sand Dunes. Our circular driveway can hold your boats, trailers and ATVS. You can bike or ride your ATV straight to the trails.

If you're interested in water, Sand Hollow Reservoir and Quail Creek are both fifteen minutes to the west and have boating and paddle boarding in the summer months. Snow Canyon State Park just outside of St. George offers hiking and rock climbing and more stunning views. Bryce Canyon National Park is less than two-and-a-half hours away and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is about a two-and-a-half hour drive. Las Vegas is only a two-hour drive from Hurricane. In short, this is a prime location to explore the scenic wonders of southern Utah and northern Arizona.

Both bathrooms are updated within the past few years. The upstairs bathroom has a full bath and shower and the downstairs bathroom has a shower. Both bathrooms are stand alone, meaning you do not have to go through a bedroom to get to the bathroom, which is nice if you are sharing the home with friends.

There is a comfortable great room downstairs with sofa/love seat and TV. The home includes WiFi access so you can stay connected during your visit. There is a table in the kitchen for eating and another table in the spacious front room/dining room. This home is perfect for a large groups including families, mountain bikers or hikers needing a place to crash after a day of exploring. We have hosted many large groups of friends coming to explore Southern Utah. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cups, pots and pans, coffee maker, microwave, waffle maker, kitchen supplies, and a new stove and oven. We have a barbecue grill as well.

The yard is amazing with a big lawn and lots of shade trees. Kids can run and play with plenty of room. We have pickle ball equipment(set of 4) for the courts 2 blocks away. There are pecan trees, pomegranate trees, and a cherry on the property.

The home includes a washer and dryer in the mudroom inside the backdoor, making it convenient to keep up on laundry. We have laundry soap for your use.

There is a new city park for kids just a block from the home. In the summer, it has water features, including a splash pad with water spouts for kids to run through. It also has basketball hoops and a playground. Back at the home there are plenty of books & games.

The city pool in Hurricane opens May 15th and stays open through Labor Day weekend. It is a very nice outdoor pool with a snack bar located 1 mile from our home.

Southern Utah is a bike lovers paradise! Bike out of the driveway, or take a quick drive to Gooseberry, JEM, or any of the other trails that are nearby (15 minutes from our home). The views from these world class bike trails are stunning and the weather is amazing, especially in the spring and fall, making it especially enjoyable for all day rides. We have great storage for your bikes in a little building behind the house. Over the Edge bike shop is literally one block from the home, so you can get riding tips or trail advice or get things fixed quickly and easily by knowledgeable experts of this area.

There are bikes in the little house in back; we just ask that you fill the tires with air before riding. You can bike out of the driveway and have plenty of riding to do with beautiful views.

The driveway is large and can hold your toy haulers, boats, bike racks and 4 wheelers for riding Sand Hollow, which is a short and pretty 15 minute drive from our home. There are lots of ATV trails close by, along with 2 beautiful reservoirs good for boating, Sand Hollow and Quail Creek.

There are some parades that come through town, remember the dates July 4th, July 24th, and then Peach Days over Labor day weekend. Each of these celebrations includes a fun local parade. They don't last long. People just set their chairs on the front lawn, and the parade goes by.

There is so much to do and see. Make this comfortable and large home your home away from home while you enjoy beautiful southern Utah.

Great for Mountain Bikers
Very easy transaction with great communication. The location was very close to a great bike shop and centrally located for riding in St. George, Guacamole, Gooseberry, and Little Creek Mountain. Loads of space, great laundry machines, and climate control. Plenty of hot water for 7 adults.

Great Mountain Biking HQ!
Such a cool place! A former & historic hotel, the house has a great & relaxing vibe. Spacious and a bit of a maze (in a fun way) inside with plenty of room. Nice outdoor space too with good parking for our Sprinter van, etc. The front porch made for nice evenings before a quiet night of sleep in the neighborhood. And only 10 minutes to the Hurricane Cliffs trail system. This house is a “JEM!”

Good stay
The home was a beautiful old historic property. It was nice to have basics provided like laundry and dishwashing soap, toilet paper and paper towels. There’s quite a bit of traffic noise between scoop buses and trash trucks. We use a white mouse app, so just turned it up louder. Easy walk into town for dinner at the Main Street Cafe. We enjoyed our stay!

I'm a city girl who grew up in Michigan but married a country boy from Hurricane. His love of this area has been contagious and I fell in love too. Hiking Zion National Park is one of our favorite things to do. We love the red rocks, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and incredible biking that is available in Southern Utah.

Why they chose this property

This property has been in my husband's family for over 100 years. Since doing some remodeling and updating, we decided it would be fun to share it with others since we can't use it year round. It is a great location and is close to many beautiful hiking and biking trails in southern Utah. We think you will see it as a little slice of heaven.

What makes this property unique

My husband's great-grandparents built this home in 1915. Before building it, they lived in the little 'home' behind the house. That is where my husband's father was born in 1915. You won't believe it when you see it, but it's true. His grandparents opened up the Hurricane Hotel and ran it as a bed and breakfast for many years. Their bedroom was located where the current upstairs bathroom is now. Guests would come from all over the U.S. and world, to rent a room in the hotel. His grandmother would cook meals for all the guests and made expert use of the butler kitchen. It's an amazing piece of history, and we want to share it with others who would appreciate the quaint charm that this location has to offer.

This home is so close to many beautiful outdoor recreations sites, but is a cozy haven to come home to at the end of a day exploring.
